  1. I have had my budgie for approximately a week and a half and I just don't know where to start with training. He sits in the lounge room beside where I sit to watch TV, so I spend a fair bit of time with him. I have spoken to someone who has recently brought a budgie and she just kept pulling it out of the cage and putting it on her sholder and walking around with him and that is how she got hers use to her. I just don't think I want to try that option. I have tried putting my hand in the cage and slowly trying to get it closer, but that doesn't work. I have tried putting the millet spray through the bars on the cage and seeing if I can get him to eat it, but i just get sideward glances. In the mornings when I uncover the cage he is normally very skitish and jumps around but at night when I change the food etc he is normally okay. I know that it is still real early days but I just don't know what option to use as he doesn't seem that interested in anything at this stage. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
