  2. hi there thanks for all your help, She is in a cage inside at the moment so when the dad has finished raising the bubs i will put them in the non breeding aviary.
  3. okay so if i put the female in an inside cage for about a week until the babies have been raised then can put her in to the aviary or would i have to wait longer
  4. HI there, AT the moment my budgie has five 4-5 week old baby budgies, this is about the fourth time she has bred. I was hoping that when she finished with this clutch i would take them out of the breeding aviary into a different one with no breeding boxes. Well she has laid yet another egg so if i separate the male from the female will the male be able to look after the babies for another 1-2 weeks or not. What should i do?
  5. okay thanks, I will be keeping an eye on the little one
  6. My budgie has 5 babies at the moment, The oldest is 3 weeks old an the youngest is 2 weeks old. This afternoon i went in the aviary to check on them, The youngest i noticed had a bit of dried up blood all on its leg. Would this be because the older babies keep on standing on it or would it be the mother. I am worried about this one because every time i look in the nesting box the other 4 babies run to the end of the box and the younger one stays right at the front. It sort of like they arent friends with it or something. What should i do?
  7. WOW aren't they georgeous are 2 of them going to be lutinos?
  8. okay thanks alot everyone
  9. okay thanks liv that is quite a good idea thanks,
  10. Sorry guys, i do know some of the ups and downs. And I suppose you are right you are more experienced. I just wanted a more tame pet. I've never really had a tame budgie so I have looked up on heaps of sites about other people handrearing and on one site it said...... Some of the reasons people handrear, Mothers pluck them, You just want a very tame bird, Siblings are smaller so therefore might get squashed, Arent getting fed properly, So I thought well the second and third sentence is what mine is so i thought i should hand tame. Obviously I'm wrong so i probably wont try handrear anymore
  11. hi, Every time my budgies have had a clutch. I have tried handling it every day but it didnt have a strong bond with me and it wasnt very tame. She use to have 6 bubs but today one of them got squashed by the bigger two. The second youngest isnt getting as much food either so I thought if I handreared the bigger one the little ones might get fed more and wont get squashed, Some of my friends at school have handreared and said that the babies make beautiful pets. I know all of the ups and downs of handrearing too
  12. HI there sorry if this didn't in the right forum, My budgie is currently sitting on 5 wee bubs, The 2 oldest ones hatched on the same day and they are 3 weeks old, The youngest is nearly 2 weeks. Is it okay If i was to handreared one of the older ones. I really want to have an extra tame budgie that was handreared by me. I would be using Kaytee Exact formula and with a bent spoon? How warm/hot does the formula have to be, 100 degrees? I know that if its too hot it will make a hole in the crop and if its too cold it wont digest properly. Also would you know what colour he/she would be....... only has a bit of pin fathers top of head is yellow, wings are black and yellow and on its back is a blueish colour but i can hardly see it, i will get a picture soon thanks for all your help.
  13. Thanks they dont have any fluff on their heads at this stage 3 of them have slight colours through their wings but thats it, the other 3 are just pink

  17. HI there, My budgie Aprille has 6 babies in her nest, oldest being 2 weeks youngest being just under a week i think. She has been taking excellent care of all of them. Just today i have noticed that the 2nd or 3rd oldest chick has a little bit of dried blood on its head. Would she have accidentally stepped on his/her head or would it be something else, All of the babies crops are full. thanks
