  1. Some Good news I get to take my bird how tomorrow and keep her on medication for a while , vet say's even thou she has lost a lot of weight in the hospital , she's very alert and looks good , if I know my bird she won't have eaten at the hospital due to being in a different enviroment and different feed ( she's real fussy with her food ) so they had to crop feed her . Her dropping's have returned to normal . I'm so happy
  2. I rang the vets today to get an update on Fluff , vet told me they have discovered blood in her droppings and this is not good , they will continue to monitor her and give antibiotics as well for possible heavy metal poisoning . They wanted to keep her in for an extended time 1 - 2 weeks but I had to decline due to financial reasons and re access the situation for this thursday . This is so hard , how far do I go as she was already in hospital for approx 10 days several months ago , I havn't given the consent to take bloods or xray's just yet , in the ideal world I'd spend any amount but I have to think about the fatty tumor's she already has . This is so hard as I'm so attached to her . My gut feeling is to possibly bring her home soon and see if she recover's ?
  3. Thanks , I hope she pulls through too , I hate looking at this empty cage .
  4. Took Fluff to the vet's today after her behavior had changed and the signs of watery droppings as I had discussed in other sections of this forum . Well the vet said the best thing was to admit her into hospital as there were signs of discharge from her cere and looks like a possible respiratory problem , they are going to monitor her over the next few days and feed her all the best nutrients they can give her as well as some antibiotics . Also too maybe problems caused from the fatty tumours she has that might be putting strain on her organs . There was one good sign when I arrived at the vets she did some of her normal chirps , I havn't heard them for about two weeks . I really hope my little girl pulls through . Cheers Toohp
  5. I found they have a Website and a Email contact so I will send my thought's and info that way . Cheers . Thanks again .
  6. Thanks there great Idea's . the aviary is locked so I couldn't do it myself and there is other more suitable branches in there but there just laying against the side on the bottom . I think an addressed letter could be the go . There's no shortage of trees and branches that's for sure it's not far from where I get all mine . There's plenty of food and water in there so no probs there , I might also print out some info and enclose with the letter . Cheers
  7. I have been on one of my motorbike rides up into the country today and stopped at my usual general store / cafe for lunch near Healsville in Vic , they have two outside aviary's there , one has several budgies and several other birds (I'm not sure of there type ) in one and I noticed the main level perch's are fencing wire . Thought to myself there **** and they should have two thicker dia branches in there at least , there are two branches in there but there on a fair angle . Thought's ? Should I say something ? I'm no bird expert . Cheers

okay she's doing pretty firmish dark green & white poops now , she's been eating a bit of spinach in the mornings , just caught her rubbing her bum on the perch and she's extremely friendly ( flirting ) with her mirror . She now does the low noise budgie chatter , never ever heard her do that , normally chirps & sings & nothing else , she' extremely inquisitive hanging alost upside down looking at me and playfull but she won't let me handle her like I used too and dosn't want to come out and run around ontop of her cage like she would before , she's certainly changed - weird . She looks well to me , hopefully it's a phase .

Notice just in the mornings lately she does a pretty much all water dropping . Normal ? Her overnight poops look okay . Nothing wrong with her appetite eating well . She's going to vets on monday for a checkup . Still nasty .

Egg's ? :hap: Don't they have to mate for that ? What's egg bum ? She has been rubbing her bum on her perch . she's still not friendly . Eating more spinach too . What do I do if she drops an egg ? :hap:

Thanks neat. I have changed my vet app to monday so I can see the vet on duty that really knows my bird . Her behaviour is bazaar a bit like a different bird . New noises & chatter , she has a huge interest in my clothing trying to get out the cage and pick at it ( never done that before ) becomes friendly then refers back to bitey , did notice she plucked a feather out today but that's the only one, still rubbing her head on toy's so I'll still go with it's a moulting issue and continue to monitor her and see what Vet say's . Im a bit of a novice when it comes to handerling birds and havn't really felt the lump on her chest of late . Last time at the vet's from memory it was firm , I do manage to get her to sit on the scale's briefly so I can weigh her . Cheers

The only thing Ive changed in her diet lately is the budgie crumble that the vet recomended , a different brand and it's a organic diet one due to my bird being overweight , she don't eat much of it I have to sprinkle it inn her seed Ive never been able to fully convert her off the seed as the vet recomended as were trying to get her weight down . The good news is she appears to be a very happy & content bird . Just as I write she's becoming friendly again ( mood change ) and Ive noticed she's singing a new tune ( where's that come from ? ) Here's a picture of her Poop from overnight. Direct hit on her favorite toy .
  13. okay here's a picture of my bird poop , it's been changing a bit of late and now to a grey & white , I have introduced a new diet organic crumble that the vet got for me into her diet but she's only eating a very minimal amount as she still eats mostly seed . Does it look okay ?

My bird ( Fluff ) has a couple of problems and has always been a little battle'ler since she was given to me , the main one being two fatty tumours , one in her chest and the other behind her legs , she has alway's been over weight and together with the vet's help we have been trying to reduce it but proving to be difficult. I make sure my bird get's as much exersize as I can encorouge as she has a problem foot as well , but I have noticed in the past few days she has lost 4 grams but I did introduce a new diet food for her this week that the vet got in especially for her . Her poop has been a little watery and one yesterday was a grey & white rather than the black or greenish . her appertite is good , she appears to be breathing okay , no sneezing , just preening a lot and moody . But anyway she is due for a check up and I will try and get her in tommorow . She is chirping from underneath her covers as we speak . Thanks for your replies
  16. I'm in East Doncaster , Ive been back past the property but no sign or sound of the duckling . I'll go have another look but I fear with the likes of the crows and the Indian minors , cats etc etc I don't hold much hope . I should have picked it up !

Thanks Liv that explains it , she's been preening heaps and as I speak she preening and plucking a few feathers . Cheers Ps I'll try & send some pics
  18. Today I found a tiny duckling walking down my road with no other ducklings or mother in sight so I stopped and watched her for a bit then phoned the local council and asked for advice as there's lots of cats in my street . The person I spoke to suggested I leave her but then gave me a wildlife phone no to ring in which was incorrect so I phoned directory assistance and asked for the wildlife number again and tried that but once again incorrect . I got out of the car and the duckling run into a property by then being so frustrated re the wildlife number I jumped into the car and drove off and very angry as I felt she'd be killed in a very short time . Should have I picked her up or left hoping the mother might find her ? Cheers

How long does the Molting take ? I cannot see anymore feathers coming off her , this morning she was extremely friendly then when I arrived this afternoon she wouldn't come near me and if she did she would bite . I noticed she's rubbing her head a lot against her toys ?
  20. toohp replied to toohp's topic in Budgie Behaviour
I started thinking my bird was sick because of the behavior and some other signs like watery poo etc but then the next day she was back to her normal friendly self . Then this morning no problems very cheeky & happy but this afternoon very aggresive! I have noticed some feather's on the floor so could this behavior be from molting ? Thanks
  21. Noticed it for about 1 week now , no change really in shape just seems to be more white and a more vivid white , the other part is a green but she loves her spinach . Gota love talking about Poo !
  22. Does anybody now what the white of the poop is . Just noticed my bird's poop has more of a white content than usual .
  23. toohp replied to toohp's topic in Budgie Behaviour
Yes she is a she and I was starting to think this could be the reason and no it's not during molt . I have noticed she's not a morning bird too and to let her be untill she adjust's to her suroundings once the cage cover is removed , becomes friendly after about 20 mins .
  24. Every so often my bird act's differently , not as friendly even aggressive & very quiet & stand offish leading me to think she could be sick , but then the next day she's back to her normal self even extremely friendly . Ive changed nothing in her environment or diet when this happens so I'm wondering what it is ? Is this normal for budgie's ?
  25. Ive become pretty good at imitating some of my bird's ( fluff ) tunes etc , there's one that sounds like a quick chirping whistle and when I do it fluff's pupils go extremely small , she arches her back and she go's all stiff like , can't help but I laugh my head off everytime she does it . Anybody know what that's about ?
