I know you can't import any seeds to Australia :budgiedance: not sure how it is relevant though )) I love giants! you just want to hug them! ( it is such a joke of nature that bunnies are like the most cuddly animals but they dont like to be cuddled!) Thank you - looking forward to a picture of MR Frank! He must be a serious gentleman with such a name! )))

:budgiedance:)) what type of rabbit do you have? what is his name? do you have his pictures? I love bunnies I have heard that lionhead is quite a new breed, not very well developed yet. he seems to be a dwarf too. and he loves digestive biscuits! (graham crackers?). i give them in very tiny portions. i was playing with him today and once i got a bit of it in my hand he didn't care about playing anymore just kept sniffing where the smell was coming from, once found, stuffed his head in my fist to steal it from me - he got it in the end He is looking at me now with ears up as if asking what are you typing there about me he says hi ))

Hello everyone, i am not new to the forum as i have already asked a few questions about my budgies before and got some really helpful answers! But I think it is only polite to introduce myself to such friendly and helpful community:) It is a great forum and thank you, you give lots of useful advice, support and seem to know sometimes more than our beloved vets! THANK YOU all so very MUCH! And these are my babies, who are also very very thankful as they life has enriched since i have started reading your forum. They have got a big eucalyptus branch to climb and nibble, new toys and actually each other! Boris and Betty. Boris is about 2 years old i would think and the girl is slightly younger. http://flickr.com/photos/v069238/2458248161/ http://flickr.com/photos/v069238/2349278391/ http://flickr.com/photos/v069238/2348911235/ and my other baby, Dudley, without wings and can't fly but really tries by hopping very high in the air and pretends he is a budgie by nibbling on their millet http://flickr.com/photos/v069238/2458247623/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/v069238/2554973714/

Thank you:) i try! Only that horizontal line was something stuck-on but the rest does seem flaky. it has always been slightly flaky but it seems to get abit more severe.

I give him Xtra vital budgie food, it says it is complete food, consists of 26 seeds, egg, fruit and herbs. I give them fruit and herbs almost daily too. they have a big eucalyptus branch on top of their cage which they climb and nibble on. their perches are three wooden, one rope one and two plastic ones and they do have two cuttlebones in their cage too. Oh yes and i give them probiotic in water which was prescribed by an avian vet to his girlfriend as i bought her from the shop a couple of months ago and she said he will benefit from it too. In the picture you can see some strange horizontal line, i just checked and it has gone, something must have stuck to it . but the rest is still there, it still looks flaky. just took this picture without the horizontal line - http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll298/v...budgiebeak2.jpg

It is me, crazy mother of budgie Boris again . Yesterday i asked a question about him vomiting/regurgitating and seems like it was regurgitating because today he seems happy and active however there is another issue i have noticed which worries me. He seems to have a flaky beak and it almost looks like he has a horizontal crack in the middle of it. Could you please look at the photo and tell me if it is normal or is it a sign of illness? [/img] http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll298/v...=Budgieface.jpg
  9. That is the thing, he wasn't hopping or playing he was asleep when it started. I am not too worried about the moment because he is hopping on his tree happily and playing with his girlfriend:)
  10. Thank you for all replies, i am looking at him this morning he seems very active, absolutely normal, and i checked up on him in the early hours of the morning and he was sleeping on one leg! it must have been just regurgitation. i just have never seen it happening before and was scared. he has no discharge, his vent and cere are perfectly clean and appetite is great (touch wood). but i will keep an eye on him. Thank you all very much!
  11. I have read the FAQ note on that but i don't really know, i never saw him regurgitating before and he wasn't moving his head sideways but up and down and quite vigorosly. I just wonder if what comes out looks different in two situations?
  12. I have changed the seeds (for Xtra Vital seeds) but about a month ago. There were no problems. It does worry me that he sleeps on both legs. I just hope he is really going to be alright. I will take him to the vet tomorrow morning but i just really wonder what has gone wrong with my poor baby budgie boy (okay he is not a baby but he is for me:) ).
  13. thank you, Liv. i can't see matting of the feathers, he is asleep now but what worries me on both legs and not one as he usually does. The vomiting bit never repeated itself. I will see how he is tomorrow and if i see any signs of him being not well - will take him to the vet.
  14. Thank you for the reply. No he is not skinny, i am around them all day and it is the first time it happens. he stopped now and just sitting on his perch. I know you give plenty of water and rest to people who vomit but i have no clue what budgies need in such situations!
  15. Hello, i was just reading in the room with my budgies and they were napping and then i heard like something was falling down to the bottom of the cage, the my budgie Boris jumped off his "bedroom" perch to another one. i came up to the cage and saw him "vomiting" as i think. he was bobbing his head up and down, though iknow it says it could be regurgitation but he was moving it up and down quite violently and i never saw him doing it before. his girlfriend was nowhere around so i don;t see why he would regurgitate. what came out was whole seeds bound with something looking like saliva. he is clean and not in it but he looks tired (but it is midnight in england). now as i turned the lights on to wath him he is trying to peck his seed toy but not too bothered about it. Is he ill? is it serious? Please HELP!

Thank you for the replies. Yes Pika, mine preen at the same time too, they are like in a mirror sometimes, doing the same thing together:) Funny birds! I am only abit worried that she is so quiet and "insecure" but i suppose she is still getting used to the surroundings and maybe "insecurity" is not such a big deal in the budgie world as it is in the human one

So the quarantine time is over and my two budgies Boris and Betty have moved in together. I;ve had Boris for over a year and Betty is a new edition. There is something strange in her behavior. she is a very quiet and looks like a shy birdie. They don't or barely ever fight and if ever than over a food dish (though they have three in their cage) or he shushes her off if i am giving him something from my hand like a herb or millet - he does allow her to eat it too if she is sitting at a good distance:). The strange thing about her is that she always seems to look up to Boris. if he eats what i give him she will eat it too (won't if i just give it to her first). If i touch him and he pecks me she does that too if i try to touch her too afterwards though not as confident as he does! as if she is just trying to do what he does. She follows him to every perch so they always sit together. He sings or chirps all the time, she barely ever does. So i just wonder if she is just a very shy and young birdie (though as we have established on this forum she is probably already around a year old) or is there something wrong or maybe you just have a good understanding of budgie behavior and share abit of it with me Oh yes i also noticed him grooming her sometimes so they seem to get along. it is just the quietness and shyness of the girls worries me (she eats alright and eats fruit and veg too fine (if he does too) ) there is a photo of my sweeties:
  19. Yep, she is in quarantine. I hope they become really good and HEALTHY! friends soon . I have been reading this forum for a while (all day today about budgies' behavior, really entertaining! ) so have learnt a few good things! Thank you for your advice, Elly
  20. Yes i have already found an avian vet in my area and planning a visit for at least a general check-up. But the thing is i think she just still is a bit stressed as she is new to our household:). Once she flew out of the cage when i was changing her water and it took us a lot of effort and stress for her (and i am really sorry about it and kept apologizing to the girl Betty all along :D ) to get her back and after that her poop was abit runny whereas before that it was fine. That is why i am not too worried about her just yet.
  21. Mint herb is among allowed ones for the budgies as far as i know so i thought it should be alright. Plus it is not an artificial flavouring but real mint. I also tasted the cordial myself and you can't really taste mint So hope that will be alright. Thank you for your replies. :parrot:
  22. Hello! I have a question about my new budgie. she has been with me for 2 weeks now and though she is active and curios and seems absolutely fine health-wise she seems to be having a slight problem with her poop. Sometimes it is fine, but sometimes it is light green (like my other budgie's when he has had some greens though she doesn't have any greens). I have read that raspberry cordial helps very well against different bacteria and consequently with minor stool problems so i wondered if i could just give her some of that for some time and see how her poops are doing but the thing is i don't seem to be able to find pure raspberry cordial! the closest i have found is mint and raspberry. In ingredients it says: "mint extract from english garden mint" and it has got 30% of raspberry juice (half fresh juice, half from concentrate). Would that be okay? Thank you very much for reply

Does this plastic ring need to be removed then or can it stay there for good? I noticed that she is biting on it from time to time but not obsessively.
  24. Irisha replied to Irisha's post in a topic in Health Questions and Tips
It might be plastic but it is hard to say because she is still scared of us so i cant really get close to touch it. But why would they put a plastic ring on her leg? what is that for?

Thank you:) i will pass all your compliments to Boris (that is his name:) ) :D
