  1. sorry to hear about your loss... Its never good when you lose a bird like that.. hope the male figures out its his job to feed them..
  2. good luck with it kaz. I would be doing it MB's way as well.. The whole car exaust thing just seems a little to risky...
  3. I agree with MB with the Inos' if any are male I would choose them over a female... easier to get ino hens than ino cocks. That goes for the "summers" as well. Are you asking us which ones we would keep or are you just showing us which ones you want to get rid of and which ones your not sure about? P.S. Thanks for the edit Liv I was having a bit of difficulty seeing all the pics...
  4. What happened??? Sorry to hear about that... They were outside too weren't they??
  5. very cute budgies clr. very cute picture
  6. you didn't find my welcoming speech positive renee??? I was trying..
  7. I know I'm about 5 months to late but that looks awesome! Great job!!
  8. Missing your fresh eggs KAZ? My birds eat much better than me. My Mother in Law was tempted to eat their food the other day when she found out what they got to eat!
  9. how did it turn out??
  10. You might want to sand down the drawers before you put the budgie in too.. not sure what treatments the wood my have had that the budgie's might not be safe nibbling... It might work out to be a really good idea though. The biggest pain would be trying to find wire fronts that fit comfortably... I know I've looked around and some places have them others don't... it can be very annoying as none of them seem to stock the same size... lol
  11. there are always exceptions to the rule... for instance... has alot of blue on the cere but is a hen...
  12. Very cute neat. If she got that much on her how much did she eat???? lol
  13. That would be great MB... they'd come across this thread and see lil_fuzzy's picture and go, "Hey, thats us they're talking about! We're famous!!" If you do lil_fuzzy... Lil_Fizzy's neighbours, I would just like to take this oportunity to welcome you to the forum. I really hope you find lots of interesting information here that helps you keep budgies safely, just as I did. I am aware that there are many different aboriginal languages but I was wondering if you could help me and a couple of others out. I read somewhere that Budgerigar means "Good Food" or "Good to eat" in an aboriginal language, is this an old wives tale or is it true??? Thanks for the help, JimmyBanks.
  14. That is awesome news!!! Now where are the pics??? I really am looking forward to seeing the differences in development between these one's and pet or show type budgies... I can only imagine just how small they are at the moment. I am so glad to hear that your little one is being fed. You must be feeling great. I was actually getting kind of down reading how things were turning out and then the mum kicked in it was great!
  15. That was the New Zealand Government Propaganda that they told you all so that you wouldn't want to come here... however after many years of Economic Irrationalism you've all decided to make the trip over the ditch to the land of Oportunity and freedom... ;) :laughter: :laughter: :laughter:
  16. I'm not there so I don't know what goes on. Must be polynesian though with 10 kids (I can say cos that I'm trying for 10 and I'm married to a Polynesian) Have you actually seen them do anything wrong to the budgies? I saw that you wote it was a "tiny round cage" but to be honest I could take you to plenty of pet shops that would sell you a tiny round cage and say it was perfect for a pair of budgies. Its only because I've come here that I know what is/isn't a good cage. Like I said I don't know your situation.. Personally if they were my neighbours I'd pop my head over when I heard them in the back yard and offer them an old cage of mine that it more suitable (I'm not saying you should do that) and just explain that the birds would enjoy it more. I find that most people like you are describig turn out to be much nicer with a bit of kind hearted genuine friendship. There are as always exceptions to the rule... (which yours may be)
  17. very cute. does the White/Yellow DF Spangle work the same as ino's as in white for Blue series yellow for Green series?? Your flocks future is looking bright!
  18. That is so crazy. Sorry to hear about that. Luckily none of your other birds were let out... Some people have no respect.
  19. Wow! I just got home and saw that you'd made history! Congratulations! I am sure they will be fine. Just keep an eye on them. Keep us posted with pics We love pics as you know
  20. you couldn't pair him back to mom, the closest people line breed is Grandparent to grandschild or Half sister to half brother...but once you start doing that it gets VERY complicated. Do a search for Line Breeding. I wouldn't recomend it as one of your first attempts at breeding. Could you look around for a Lutino Hen (All yellow with red eyes)? that should help you get some of the outcomes you want I think... It wouldn't be as high percentage as white lacewing to yellow lacewing...
  21. by green series lacewing hen did you mean like this neat??? I'm just not sure.... :laughter: :laughter: :laughter: :laughter: :laughter: :laughter:
  22. I'm not making any comments anymore... enjoy the forum...
  23. looks like your only option is....
  24. I will be putting one in my avairy/birdroom when I build them. I have heard that they do make a difference. They arn't going to drop the tempurature by 20 degrees but they will increase the airflow...
