  1. For that purpose, you could just use split rings. They have numbers on them... say from 1 to 8 and they come in lots of clours. You could change colours each year. I use the metal split rings so I can tell the difference between different clutches. In my last clutch, all 5 bubs were identical so I used them to tell the difference between the babies. Just remember to ask for budgie sized ones

On and off. It was meant to be 12*C today but felt a lot warmer! Have you done your tax yet, and if yes were you happy with your return?
  3. Thanks all... the coloured seed is 'Brown's Fruit Bites Banquet' It has some pellets, split peas, papaya and seeds. It's very much a treat for them (they don't have it in their cage), but it seems along with my avairy birds, they throw everything away and only eat the seeds. I bought this packet awhile ago and won't bother again. The coloured pellets are what Dolce threw off the table Kaz, the paddlepop ladder thingy is how they get up to their cage and out. I used a staple gun to staple them onto the piece of wood... but the little buggers decided it would be fun to try and eat the staples... so NOT happening. So, i covered them with cotton rope. This hides the nasties and gives them more grip on the ladder.
  4. Sorry for your losses luv... is the nest box near the front of the avairy... therefor the hen wouldn't have wanted to go back to the next box because it was near where the dog was?
  5. Gucci and Dolce are still yet to come out on their own, but are happy to have a 'finger' ride to the park for a play. Today, they have been out for an hour and were kind enough to let me take a few happy snaps... Hang on mum, I'm not ready yet! Mmm, I might go back home Me too, oh, hang on, is morning tea being served down at the park? Yes, and it's that new selection we got Mum to buy last week Muuuuuuuuummmmmmm, Dolce's throwing food on the floor again... Am not... where? Oh yeah... that was mine... 'gulp' What ever... I'm not posing anymore, turn that thing OFF!!!
  6. She is one STUBBORN little girl hey Deb!!! I think you are doing all you can... I'd keep mixing seed with the handraising mix, but also have it separate as well. Could you also purea (sp?) veggies and mix it all up together... maybe she won't be able to pick it out that way. Also, if you do a small amount at first then increase it... ??? Good luck and please keep us updated on this head strong girl!
  7. Grrr Thanks for the warning Elly!
  8. Good to hear. Some excellent tips there also for people introducing new birds to an aviary/cage. Thanks for that Dave
  9. Men!!! (kidding guys ) I'm sure she'll manage a few if they hatch. You could always make sure she has a bit of food in the nest box for quick meals.
  10. WOW... that is more than my Crackle!!! (laid same... 9 but sitting on 10) It's amazing how they can handle that many hey!?!? Congratulations
  11. Thanks for the update. Do you find you get many casulities when you introduce newbies or do they seem to figure out the pecking order without too much hassle?
  12. Reptiles also get Rickets... again, from a lack of calcium. It is usually the young ones that get it and it causes tremers/shakes and their bones don't form properly. A regular dose of calcium and access to UV light usually fixes it if caught early enough.
  13. Your friend is very wise... I'm glad you are happy with your decission thus far... you know what is best for both you and Piccolo, and in time, if getting another budgie is the right thing to do... it will happen. Good luck with work tomorrow and I hope you are feeling better. Also, please remember us when you are a famous writer... I EXPECT a autograph!!!

Agree... stunning. Definately a Budgie of the Month contender!!!
  15. What a sweetie Thanks for sharing.
  16. After seeing a photo of the poor guy, I wouldn't take him on any more money raising activities. My reasons are 1) It is very big and people might be grosses out (as you said), 2) Because of the size of it, it would be putting him under stress and by taking him out into public, this would add to this, and 3) If he is not with you, you can stay for longer! Congratulations on the money raised today.
  17. Oh, poor guy. It must be very uncomfortable for him and I'm sure he'll be happy to get it removed. It has grown heaps... especially since you only noticed it last Sunday. Good luck on Wednesday
