  1. Drum roll.............................. Introducing bub number two: It amazing to see the difference 2 days can make (bub at front is 2 days old, bub at back hatched last night)
  2. Sorry for your loss Neat. Sometimes I just think they are not meant to be (like my one who didn't get out of the shell). I guess it's like survival of the fittest. It's still not nice when they don't make it, but maybe for the best. Your other three look very well looked after.

You poor thing! How come nothing EVER goes to plan. lol... It looks really good though. You should be proud of all you hard work. Run yourself a warm bath, poor yourself a stiff drink........ and relax
  5. Whoo hoooooo. We have another pinkie!!! No photos as yet, hopefully tonight. Today is my nieces first birthday, and I'm also about to go appliance shopping so I have a busy day. Tonight I'll take a photo if things are still well. My 3 year old nephew came around yesterday and he touched the first baby. It was vey cute. He also as a name suggestion, which I don't think will win "Baby Love"... oh, three year old... just to sweet! lol...
  6. Ours do this too. It looks really strange as the hand on with their beaks as well as their feet? You think it would be warmer to snuggle up on the covered in part on the perches. Ditto!!! Mine even do it when it's blowing a gale and raining. Why oh why??? They have cosy spots sheltered from the elements, but no, hanging on to the wire with beak and feet.
  7. Thanks everyone... it's so hard to find something I'm happy with. I found one but the links won't work grrrr. I'd turn it on it's side so the length would be 91cm, height 41cm and depth 61cm. Bar spacing is approx 1.5 cm... (Item number: 370059707625 if you want to look it up )

Oh no Kaz... I'm so sorry. Biggest hugs for you
  9. Link is not working... says page not responding
  10. As many of you know, I'll be moving into a unit in just over two weeks. I can't take my aviary, so I'll be leaving it at home (which is only 2 minutes from home). I do however want to have some inside Budgies. I have never had inside ones before, so this will be all new for me. Hopefully I'll have some bubs from my current clutch, if not, I'll be buying some. I've been looking on Ebay for cages. I want something big enough so they can live comfortably, but my spare room will also have to accomodate my lizards and a small desk, so it can't be too big. The bar spacing also needs to be small, as it will house budgies not cockatiels. I have found some cages for cats/ferrets/birds. Some have small bar spacing= 1.2 cm... but they are huge. 1.5m high. If I did getting something like this, I'll be turning them on their side, so this will become the width rather then height. But I'm thinking this will be too big... mmm For those who have inside birds, what is your cage like and where did you get it from... thanks all
  11. They are sweet... and I agree on the names... or Nan and Pa etc... It's cute when they pair up because they love each other . And not forgetting your other birds, they are sweet to. Good luck with the aviary this weekend!
  12. Some time between 5pm last night and 7am this morning... a chick hatched!!! On my morning check I saw half an egg shell... more promising then a wholy egg. Crackle was not keen to get up, but when she did, the little one was wiggling away amongst the eggs... and it's crop was full. I didn't take pictures then as it was stil early. Well tonight when I got home from work, it was still wiggling, had a full crop and when Crackle got up, it began cheeping. She was looking at it to see what I was doing, and after she thought I was bothering her baby for long enough, she was in the nest box moving her eggs and baby to under her... What a good mother. So... here is my latest pride and joy:

  16. Hi all and thanks for your assistance and congratulations etc... I love shopping but I'm more of a 'find something you like and buy it' kind of girl. BUT I have been shopping around for these big ticket items. Retravision wasn't real good and didn't have any washing machines I liked and the fridges were all either too small or too big. I've got one more place to go to tomorrow night, and then all the local ones will be done. Harvey Norman has a big sale on at the moment and have been the most helpful and have given me the best deal so far... and I haven't even begun to haggle yet (It will remind me of Bali, yet some how I don't think I'll be able to that good of a deal lol). I will also be getting an extended warranty... I think at Harvey Normans it was like $100 for an extra 6 years on each appliance. My brother-in-law is really good at buying stuff like that too, so I'll get him to come along when I decide on my choices. I did however buy a phone today. Single handset with answering machine... YAH... I'm a big kid now Other than that... I have everything I NEED... the Big TV and vacuum cleaner will have to wait for now.

Welcome back . I'm glad things have settled down for you.
  18. Awwww. She is adorable and what a pretty colour. Congratulations.
  19. Awww. Congratulations They're so cute and little.
  20. Thanks! I'm big on research, so no stone will go unturned! lol. I LOVE Ebay as well. It's my second favourite website. Thanks so much Matthew. It does make my mind rest knowing someone else who has one and recomends it! Cheers Thanks MB. All good points and I'll remember them. I hate shopping for appliances grrrrr. As to the washer and dryer combo... I agree. Do not mix them. Like the VCR/DVD players. Leave them alone lol!!!

WOW, that was a shoke , i thought they loved mirrors, and it was good for them Thanks, i got rid of the mirrors straight away. il have to go and get some toys to replace it. They do LOVE mirrors, as they think they have a mate in them (their reflection). Be prepared for an unhappy/cross budgie if he is used to having his mirror. He will get used to it after awhile. Another member had a post about it, and her budgie was scretching when they took it out, but they did get over it. Budgies love colourful toys. Thoses simple o rings, chew toys (with wooden bits), don't get a fake bird toy (similar problems as with mirror), um.... look for stong well built toys... and keep your receipt and packaging and post them here if you're not sure. That way they can be returned if need be P.S. This is my favorite online shop for parrot toys. My Parrot shop Have a look around. At the least it will give you an idea of what they like and is safe as this place tests all of their toys on birds
  22. So... I signed the lease for my unit today :parrot: whooooo hooooo. I went shopping with my sister yesterday and got the bargain of the year... yes say it with me, the bargain of the year!!! A dining table and four chairs (with padded seats) for.................... wait for it................... $99!!!!! How cool is that. It was from Fantastic Furnature. It looks and feels pretty sturdy, and is a dark timber colour so doesn't look cheap. Very happy with that buy. My sister and I thought that was the price for the display one. It had a small dint but I didn't mind. She went to get a staff member whilst I lay accross the corner of the table covering the price!!!!! It turns out they had heaps flat packed out the back... lol... So now I need a few more bigger thing. I have a small 34cm TV which will do for now until I can save up for a big one, a vacuum cleaner but will borrow Mum's until I buy one... BUT I need a microwave, Fridge and Washing Machine. There is a LG Washing machine I'm liking and a Samsung Fridge. The links are below. Can anyone shed some light on my choices. Everyone I've spoken to says they look like good options, but what are your thoughts. Thanks all Washing Machine Fridge Please note, the prices on the websites are the RRP and I have found them at Harvey Norman much cheaper... and that's before bargaining!!!
  23. Just be careful with branches from a park. They may have been sprayed or treated with something. Be sure to give them a good clean. It's also a good idea to change the cage around often... every month or so. This will avoid bordem etc... When I had an inside budgie, his cage got changed around when it wash given a good clean out.

I'm glad you're liking it. First thing first... get rid of the mirror. They are bad news. Budgies and other birds get attached to them and can become aggressive etc... when you go near it. Also when trying to tame and teach them to talk, mirrors are also bad... Budgies love those balls with little bells in them, paper (small patty cake pans)... um... I'll find you some pictures and links
