  3. she is an odd girl isnt she - everything you expect her to do she does the opposite So pleased she is in high spirits while moulting
  4. how old are they? where and why do you need to move them ? Its really risky stuff as parents can even reject babies after they fledged if they are moved.
  5. Aww look at that baby! its so big. it looks so strong and its eyes aren't even open yet!
  6. She is definitely a hen :reading:
  7. Look how Vincia has grown. she is such a pretty colour :reading:
  8. She looks really nice. it's so odd having the clear across the back, but that's a good thing isn't it?
  9. I didnt even notice that :reading: was too busy looking at the mesh. I agree with Andrew... a cage upsize will do wonders in the near future

  12. Oh, he really should be quarantined from Sky for 30 days.
  13. What creative ideas!!!
  14. Boys can be randy little things and will try and mate with anything including their perches, toys and YOU if they are tame I cant remember the treatment for the hormone imbalance... they possibly need more dark sleep hours. do you have them up late at night?
  15. OMG!!! There is some serous fertility happening in your new breeding room!!!
  16. you must have pretty good accommodation for pigeons to choose to move in rather than being free I hope your birds stay healthy
  17. 1. We are worried that our two new budgies Sky and Cloud have both had some changes to their ceres. Sky's cere has become a lot darker - more dark purple than blue now and his beak was always a little bit flaky at the tip. Cloud has got some slight light tan flaky bits on his cere. I'm worried if one has given the other something contagious, or if they are both lacking something in their diet? We checked out Sky's relatives at the pet shop today, and they all looked healthy as far as I can tell. I've read every post that might give me an answer, but I'm still confused why they are changing. He is out of condition and/or has a hormonal imbalance - he also looks to have the beginning of scaly face. 2. Also, Cloud makes funny noises like a noisy-minor or magpie chick and bows down as if he is begging to be fed. Does this mean he is young? We got him from a pet shop and don't know his age, we assumed he was young because the first time we let him out, he did'nt seem to know how to fly! He is flirting and being a boy. boys head bob and sing all the time. that is part of their normal character. he is possibly mimicking other birds which is common too  - as for his age... not sure, he doesnt look all that young to me but it can be hard to tell after their first moult 3. Sometimes Sky gets sick of Cloud's begging, so he puts his foot on Cloud's back. Sky feeds Cloud, and they groom each other, so seem to be happy together most of the time. Is the foot thing okay or will I need to seperate them? He is trying to mate with Sky. the male will put a foot on the back of the female and mount her back and wrap his tail around under the hens. 4. I put some worming drops in their water soon after getting them, I give them Eucalyptus branches and bottlebrush and sometimes carrots to chew and feed them Trill seed. We got Sky first (he has a green band on his leg), then Cloud from a different pet shop (no band). We let them out to fly around and tame a couple of times every day. Is there anything we need to be doing different? Diet sounds good. there are so many vegies, herbs and leaves you can add to it. The list is huge. there is some info in the FAQ's about diet Sky having a green ring, is most likely an 07 bird so she is 1-2 years old
  18. Awwwwwwwww  She is in loooove with you. if she ever bows down, flattening her back and raising her tail it means she wants to take it to the next base
  19. That is awesome!!! What a great idea!!! Well done
  20. So great you are still making progress and it looks like you are staying
  21. Possibly dominant pied, but am not convinced
  22. Mine get whole sunflower seeds - but be careful with them as they can make budgies fat and can also cause fatty masses to grow on the body if they don't get enough excersise.
  23. Babies sleep a lot more than adults. She should still have short periods of play and eating time, then back to nap time again. My babies are all 5 weeks old and have big bursts of energy for about 30-60 mins, then its back to nap time hehe. Keep and eye on her as you are, if she starts to look fluffed up then you know there is a problem. a baby all on its own would be quieter than one who has playmates too.
