  1. I would take MB's advice as that dreaded "P" word is a NASTY desease!!! and any bird can carry it for years without showing any symptoms but will infect other birds

Yes I feel they would for a day or two, provided you are not breeding in the aviary.
  3. Thanks Sunnie, It is a really kind offer - in about 6-8 weeks I will see what condition BG is in and I might just take you up on your offer - we can share the babies like Kaz and Feathers
  4. That's great news! I am so relieved he will be okay. The vet sounds like she really knew what she was doing
  5. Really??? Wow! May i ask..... how????? it would have to be fiddly with such little "bits" It's not common practice but some do use artificial insemination. Here is an article http://www.bcv.asn.au/AI.htm What a very interesting article, thanks Kaz. I thought it would be far more complicated than that. Has anyone here done it ???

Coco is her only bird But Liv is going to fix that in spring hehehe hehe Sure am
  8. Yes, you are right - I always get that one mixed up But I still believe iron rich foods are not good for breeding budgies.

  10. I feed mine frozen peas corn and carrots too, but i steam it for 2 minutes first - The packet often says not to eat uncooked as it could have bacteria on it
  11. I agree with Deb. It's best not to move them. When i was colony breeding my nest boxes were 6 feet up and i had no troubles with "falling" babies. They normally flutter down to the ground with out much impact. A baby normally doesn't take it's first leap out of the nest for another week or so and will be able to fly a bit Also now is definitely the time to be handling the chicks - they really should be held every day from hatching to keep an eye on their development, but better late than never Do you have photos of the bubs????

  13. Make sure he looks after those cacti or I'll get the RSPCS (Royal Society for the Protection of Cacti and Succulents) onto him
  14. Yes you have a point Kaz and Elly, August is getting close now - time is flying Now i like the idea of AI SW Maybe i could use a male IVF and artificially inseminate Lady with BG's sperm..... has that been done before with budgies????
  15. the measure I have makes 2 liters of water so unless I want to poor it down the drain it might just be easier to keep everyone on it. Do you know the diease that he is talking about I have serched and can't find anything like what he said and wrote. divide everything in half and just make 1 liter if 2 liters is too much
  16. I agree too!! well said SW! Good luck at the vets.
  17. Oh, No, I'm not breeding him now - thinking in August - September - My breeding room isn't even done yet, and i dont have any cabinets. I won't do it if he is not up to it either - I am using positive thinking at the moment I think i might put Lady (in early August) with a test male and see how she goes at being a mum and go from there. Who would be a good partner for her???
  18. Oh the poor boy Good luck with the vets tomorrow.
  19. absolutely MB - a hoarder would keep the animals because they CAN NOT bare to get rid of them, they may or may not see the poor conditions of the animals, but they are way in over their heads that they tend to get depressed and start to neglect the animals more and more, but are still unable to bring themselves to part with the animals - It's very sad and a real mental illness A collector loves and cares for their animals and is realistic about how much they can have and realistically ensure they can provide adequate care for every animal My hubby collects cacti and i collect budgies

I bet he had fun I hope the metal works to keep those horrible rodents out
  21. What a rough time for you I have found that when there are lots of new birds in a short amount of time, there is more to go wrong i had (in a much smaller scale to you) it in April when i went on a bird buying spree It's so hard at times, but it will get better and then you will have a lovely flock of healthy birds to love
  22. I have a shorter one "Once upon a time, we all lived happily ever after"

:D REAL MEN ASK FOR DIRECTIONS WHEN LOST Real life testimonial from the one man who did !!!!
  24. Get a product called Moxidectin - It's a wormer but kills any other parasite that feeds off the fluids of the bird - I use it every 12 weeks - it's great stuff and i get it from my local bird dealer
  25. Here is a very interesting site ALLLL about budgie POOP - Just in time for dinner hehehe ---> here is it any of thoes???
