Better To Have A Pair Or Not?
Normal tap water is fine  No bells or mirrors (or other reflective things) because male budgies can become obsessed with their reflection and all sorts of behavioral issues can start.

Larger Pet Birds
Quakers are beautiful. I nearly bought one earlier this year  They can have possessive issues and plucking issues - same as any intelligent parrot really.

Better To Have A Pair Or Not?
a fear of flapping wings is very common, nothing to feel silly about. I have a friend who is petrified of birds and i have to cover them all up and remove every trace of feather when ever she comes around. my 40+ birds freaks her out!!! Moths are also something many are scared of when they also fear birds. If you have a freind for him, he will not bond as closly to you. You can still make him feel a part of the family by having his cage in a social location (not in the kitchen) like family room near the TV. Talk to him lots and spending time with him while he is in the cage will helping him get used to you - and you never know, he might be able to help you get used to him  Because his cage is a good size he can stay in all day if you like. Give some toys (without mirrors and bells) Alsotrim the long perch to run parallel with the shorter one that runs the width of the cage Like this: This will allow him to fly between the perches and get exersise during the day

Better To Have A Pair Or Not?
If you want him to bond with you (you and your family will be his flock), then keep him on his own. If you would rather him bond with another budgie, then get him a male friend. It is really up to you in that matter The cage you have sounds like a good size. It is best for the perches to run across the width of the cage, rather than the length - It might already be the case... just thought i would mention it though. If you get him a friend, he will need a cage upsize. No such thing as to many questions... we are here to help and love answering questions

Budgie Travel
I use a carry box. Its a mixture of a cage and a box. Personally i feel a cage is dangerous and i will only move my birds in a card board box or a carry box. Cages mean a bird can flap its wings and panic. In a small box i bird can do very little harm to its self if anything was to happen. I also put the seat belt though the handle in case i have to stop suddenly- i don't want it to fly off the seat Here is a carry box i made last week. (cost $5.00 of materials: wood, glue, nails, handle, aviary wire. ) I can fit 2 birds in this and they travel well it it. They have fresh air but still feel secure by the wooden sides. they can huddle on the floor or perch on the perch. I also put seed and water in there for trips that will take over 30 mins.

Chick With Air In Crop:
I have seen small amounts of air in a number of chicks - i leave it and there are no ill effects - i thought it was them just swallowing some air during feeding :hap:

Colors?
he is a green (something) spangle - i am not good with the greens :hap: You have a recessive pied looking in the nest box and a sky blue opaline spangle sitting on the top next to what looks like a lutino The one with its back to us looks like a sky blue dominant pied... maybe opaline?? Then you have a cobalt normal blue and a sky blue peeking in the side. They are pretty, but cant see what they are. You have a Yellow Face type 2 sitting in the middle at the bottom. There is a normal grey next to him and i see a pretty violet sitting top left. Very nice sky blue opaline :hap:

What To Give My Birds?
Mine are veggie crazy. They see me coming with it and they all hang off the wire with excitement - Yours will get used to them in time - One will try it, then two, then more, then they will all tuck in :hap: Remove the Lettuce - it has no health benifit for them. I would also be giving them liquid calcium in their water on the days that you are not giving them the vitamins :hap:

Meet Barney
He looks good - IF he has scaley face it would only be in the VERY early stages. On the first day of quarantine all new budgies should be treated for worms and mites anyway He is a very pretty boy. I bought 2 yesterday... I wonder if i saw you in the shops :hap: I am not sure on his type... a opaline spangle perhaps :hap:

Finally - My First Green Budgie!
Thanks for your relies guys. When it comes to breeding, i am still not sure what i am wanting to achieve, I love the mixed up colourful look of the pet type and i love the size of the show type. I would like to breed some nice show types, some nice mixed up pet types and a blend of the two to make super pet types I was saying to my hubby earlier, i would like to breed quality, healthy birds for hand tame pets, that come with a health guarantee and information pack. I would also like to start a line of show types and get into the showing side too I think at the moment I am experimenting :hap:
