  1. Dont need to wait for Kaz on this one - Its a boy
  2. Yes, I only trimmed him yesterday after seeing all the clear eggs. he was Very feathery "down there" too Fingers crossed that was the problem.
  3. He is a Male recessive pied
  4. i hope they let you. Crossing everything i can for you
  5. Thanks Sunnie. The hen is a great mum - she is Latte and Cookies mum. The male had a lot of feather around the vent so he has had a trim and i am hoping that might help - If they manage to get babies i think they will look really pretty
  6. If she is in great condition and weight, then she is probably fine for breeding. you would get dominant pied babies and normal babies
  7. I have no idea. I will need to see her for myself. Just post her to me and i will let you know what she is when she arrives You will get her back - promise
  8. If you do jump the fence, don't just free the birds. Domesticated budgies die a long slow death of starvation and exposure in the wild. Catch them and put them in a shoe box (with the lid secured) then put them in a cage back at your place. Flyer is a great idea too
  9. Other way round neat - calcium affects iron absorption.
  10. Not yet. She is still laying every second day like clockwork. In about an hour i will go out and find her 5th egg
  11. Here is an ODD concept. sitting the vent of a egg bound hen in a small dish of vinegar. The vinegar would make the egg shell soft and easier to extract without breaking it. - i have no proof of this and i dont know if its safe, just a thought i had when remembering back to school science lessons.
  12. Very nice!!!! She is STUNNING
  13. A quick update. Is has been 9 days since the pair below begain to lay - ALL four eggs (with one on the way later today) are clear - what do i do?? I don't want to waste her precious egg laying resorces. Do i leave her in case i need her as a foster or should i get her a new man?? Lady has 3 eggs now and the first egg is showing veins
  14. Possibly overkill with calcium??? not sure exactly. Do you have days of clear water (no supplements) ??
  15. My hubby grows baby cacti inside in a heated germination box - it's lovely and cozy warm on the top so I now sit a wooden hospital cage on it and there is no bright lights so the bird can rest peacefully.
  16. Neat I did not think of this and I am not sure it would have helped. The egg was visable and had pulled the membrane out of her with it. Hence why my vet said she was not egg bound but prolapsed. I am so sorry AV I agree that you didnt do the wrong thing. I had a hen prolapse a few years ago, she was old and laid it out of the blue - i took her to the vet and had her put to sleep I give AviCal to my breeders 4 days out of 7 in the cabinet.

I would also remove or cover this shiny stuff - it would have the same distracting affect of a mirror.
  21. Hello and welcome You are lucky they keep quiet until 9:30 - mine wake me up with full voice at 7am every morning
  22. If the antibiotic is given in the water than it wont help as effectively as when its given via injection.
  23. She sounds like a superb mum
  24. one more egg to go. Make sure you give the parents LOTS and LOTS of soft nutritious food as their work load is very large now.
  25. "Mirror mirror on the wall, i wish my biggest wish of all - to turn this reflection into a mate, for me to take out on a date - Oh my God!! It worked!!!!!! "
