  1. I was just wondering if anyone knew if you could put Budgies with a King Parrot in a aviary? I was thinking about getting one as I find them so beautiful and fascinating but as I live at home with my parents I can't really build another aviary. Also would anyone know how much it would be to hold a permit in Brisbane to keep them?
  2. Congrats on the babies Sunnie. How are they going?
  3. What beautiful babies you have.
  4. I have had a lot of butcher birds and magpies go at my birds cage and aviary. I just usually keep an eye out for them and if I see one try to shoo it away. I'm not entirely sure if they will go them in the wild but I have heard of stories of them doing so.
  5. We use to have heaps of cats come around to try to annoy the birds in the aviary and the thing that hurt the most was that if would effect their breeding abilitly as they were scared. Eventually I found out who the cats belonged to and put a nice letter (not nasty just a polite letter) asking them to keep there cats inside of thier yards. I clearly explained to them why and the fact that if it were a dog the pound would collect her/him straight away. I further told them that if they could not contain thier cat that I would be forced to hire a cat trap from the council and they would than need to pay for a collection fee to pick her/him up from the coucil pound. I have not had any problems since. It must be one of my pet hates that dogs must be registered and kept in the yard and if they're not the council comes down on you like a block of bricks while cats are free to roam around and do as they please. I'm not sure weather I am correct but I think there is now a law that has been brought in to say that cats must be locked indoors at night. Might be wrong on that one but if I am I think there should be for both our wildlife and the cat's safety.
  6. Congrats Sunnie. I'm loving Tommys colouring. She's having a big clutch to look after this year isn't she.
  7. What beautiful birds you have Paul. I love yellow faces I wish I owned more of them. Congrats on having so many chicks.
  8. If you have not kept your bird in quarrintine and even if you have Bridgett my advice would be to take him/her to the vet. My theory is it's better to be safe than sorry even if it costs you $50 and under that is still the better than losing all your flock.
  9. Good luck on your hatchlings being TBC Norm. I never realized that they were quite a rare varietiy I learn something new about budgies everyday which is probably why I find keeping them such a joy.
  10. Love the pics of your birds Bea especially the one of Bailee yawning what a perfect timing it must have been to catch in on film.
  11. You have very beautiful birds jenene congrats on the eggs. My budgies have just started to breed for this year and I've managed to have 2 budgies with a number of eggs and a pair of Cockatiels have some eggs that I expect to hatch soon. I'm hoping that my other birds catch on and start laying some eggs as well. You are doing so well to have so many laying. I agree with Karen they must be very happy and I can only hope that mine are as happy as yours.
  12. Congrats Kylie. Wgat a gorgous budgie. MJ is beautiful.

Thanks Everyone for replying. I'm sure I will enjoy using this site and talking to like minded people who share the same passion for budgies as I do. From what I've seen so far this is a really good site with a lot of information and very friendly which is just what I'm looking for. How do I go about uploading images from a computer I don't know how to use the URL address as I think it is a website thing?

Hello. I just joined and thought I'd better introduce myself and say hello to everyone. My name is Tanya and I have just started breeding my birds again. I own budgerigars (they make up the majority of my aviary), along with peachfaces, cockatiels and quails.
