Am I Correct In Thinking?
Hi Guys, okay so I did my first cull the other day and really wanted a big green normal to go over my Lutino hen, which I got!!!! When I got the boy home set him up in quarrintine and had a good look at him I realised that I had miss judged my other green male's colour. So am I correct in thinking that Cole is actually a Green Cinnamon? Its an old photo and he was starting his moult! But the colour is close to what he normally looks like! He is the father of my first clutch and I know that the babies are cinnamon! So is the mother! I am sure the babies are going to be green cinnamon's as well! So am I correct in thinking that Dad is a Green cinnamon and the babies likely to follow in his foot steps.

I will take some photo's of the babies on the weekend as I am curious as to see what you guys think! They seem to be getting Yellow pin feathers on their wings and little tails?????????????? Ali and Buffy are mating like made rabbits, and there seems to be no stopping them, I even had my arm in the cage changing seed and water dishes this morning and they still kept going, its shameful.

How To Ring A Baby Budgie?
Thanks for the info Daz, i managed to get one chick rung but the other was to late! Kaz gave me a helpful hint about getting it on a chick that you have just missed but Ill save that for another time when I feel more comfortable handleing the babies! I found the three forward one back the easiest.

Mr Gerald Binks
I would offer to help but I think that my spelling and grammar would give Kaz a heart attack!! LOL. I have just recently purchased his Book the challenge and feel like a 5 year old waiting for the post man to bring Santa's letter! Kaz this was a great idea and i look forward to reading the articles when they are up! Oh by the way they should be framed and hung on the wall in your new bird room, they could be worth something in the future.

Look At This Horrid Cage On Ebay
These cages are just fantastic....................... For sprouting seed or growing silver beet in! They keep the local sparrows away from my hard work! I got given a bird that was stuck in one of these awful cages; it’s no wonder that she is a nasty piece of work.

My Two Pairs
Thank you Kaz, I checked the thread, found the link and gave it another go. As you said it’s not that hard! When you know what you are doing!!!! I managed to get baby two's ring on no problem, but baby one's leg has no hope, even with a small amount of shrinkage it wouldn’t go on. 11 days and it is just far too gone. I will now make sure that all babies are rung between 6 and 9 days depending on the size of the baby.

My Two Pairs
Thanks kaz, I am game but not the game, that just scares the bejebers out of me, there mother will go into full flight attack mode if I tried that ;-) Is there a video online anywhere that shows me if I am doing it right? or can someone explain it in good old plain fashioned english?

My Two Pairs
hey guys, babies are doing well and starting to fluff up! I just have one small question though!!!!! How do I get the build up of poo off their little toes, I was going to try but then thought better of it without consulting you guys as I really couldnt deal with it if I took a toe off, or even a nail! I have cleaned the box out yet again, I dont remember the mess from when I last breed and I know why poowee she smelly, two babies make alot of mess I would hate to think how much 5 would make! Ali finally chucked her last egg also dead in shell :-( she has gone into the holding cage with her hubby for a 4 week rest period and then she will go back into the avairy, her choice of box will not be replaced until she has had atleast an 8 week break!

My Aviary....start To Finish
oh wow Kaz, Ive just finished reading this post and think that you should be awarded the most patient Award, i would have gone stirr crazy waiting this long! I am extremly jealous though of your bird room and avairy, the floor plan looks amazing and the pics are even better! I have shown the floor plan to my other half and said that when they start building our place next year, that the bird room and flights are a must add, the builder will have a fit, but Im not concerned! We are building on 5 acres so I am sure that we can afford the space, half and acre of cage should be nothing :-) ssssshhhhhhhhhh told tell the other half I think that he will have a fit! I was originally thinking of something along the lines of a 5 car garage, in kit form they are cheap, its the fit out that is the killer!!!!!! Ive been told four car including flights and bird room! Now I just need to win lotto so that I can retire before I turn 30 and spend the next 40 years breeding birds!!

Quails
Hey AV, These are both male chinese painted button male qualis, the one that keeps moving is a Normal, the other that is plucked looks to be split with the silver mutation which is these little guys:Lucky for you these little birds dont sound like a kitten stuck in the avairy, that would drive your puppies mental!!!oh oh I found what your little man is!!!! He is a Silver red breasted male, like this one!!! When his feathers grow back that is

My Two Pairs
hey guys, babies are doing well, baby 1 opened its eye's today, now I have a strange question though! I read on another post that withj cinnomon babies the plum colour in the eye's changes to black after a couple of days. How many days normaly! baby 1's eyes when you look at it are a funny colour, they are the same colour as a glass of Pinot noir (Im in hospitality, its the best that I could think of, also cause we had a bottle with dinner last night too)

My Two Pairs
hey guys well at 5 and three days of age the babies are still going strong, the parents are feeding well, dad seems to make a huge mess of himself in the process, his bib gets covered in food!!!! I thought that waiting for the eggs to hatch was hard but waiting to see what they are going to look like is just as hard!!!!! Here are a few more pics for you all! I hope that you like the looks of them so far, I will take some more photo's when they are abit older, but will keep you all updated!! Thanks again for all your support!

My Two Pairs
both babies doing very well, mummy is doing a great job and they are growing at great speed, they are loud enough now that when Im sitting on the balcony I can hear there chirping! God only knows what miss ali or Buffy are doing though, I did the usual feed this afternoon, then checked on the babies, then did my usual tap on the door with Ali, When I opened the box I could see a funny mark on an egg so I pulled it out to have alook, her or Buffy had some how managed to dent and crack the egg, the crack had blood the whole way through it and a bit of clear fluid. The egg was beyond repair and the risk of it sticking to Ali was high, so I had to remove it!!!!!!! I was hoping that it was just hatching or something, but when I got the egg out and opened it, the baby was still alive but had alot of yoke left, I cannot say how upset I am, this poor little soul was not looking good and there was nothing that I could do!!! She even had red / clear eyes, So from 4 fertile eggs I now only have one! I know that Ali wants to have a brood so bad! and I want her to have one aswell, they will make beautiful babies!

My Two Pairs
well baby 1 is now three days old and baby 2 has gone over the 24 hour mark! Dispite being told by the other half that the babies look like chicken carcus ready to be cooked, I took a few more pics, Now I have decieded that my camera is just **** so need to find a reason to by a new one, and taking pics of baby birds isnt the other halfs idea of a valid reason! But these are the best that I could get at the present time! picture 1, Baby 2 just hatched, well kinda just mummy had already feed him! picture 2, Another after hatching! picture 3, Baby 1 @ 3 days old & baby 2 at 24hrs old picture 4, Also today! There is still nothing from Ali, She is still sitting and waiting and I am still hoping above hope that atleast one baby made it through! It breaks my heart to think that she has spent all this time on them, but to no avail!!

Angelic Vampyre's Influence
well due to running extremely late this afternoon, I missed my vet appointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both birds seem to be in reasonable health, both have slightly wet droppings and the hens tail is drooped, BUT thankfully there is no bobbing in either of them! But they will still be off for a vet check!!! Oh by the way AV you did seem to have a larger number of hens than cocks and when you get your box's you are going to need those cock birds! Oh and the other half still hasnt noticed that they are there yet! (insert very evil smile here) OH (otherhalf) told me that the babies that have just hatched look like chicken carcus ready for cooking! not happy about that, I think that they are simply stunning!!

My Two Pairs
baby two arrived today, they are both very well feed and mummy and daddy are both very proud of them, when I checked on them this afternoon in the afternoon feeding round, both parents were in the nest, chirping away! Cole the father is still quiet tame so he was more than happy to come over to show me his accomplishments!!! I will post some photo's tomorrow of the two chicks! Ali has thrown another egg from the nest! This one was also a grey colour, when candled it to was all black inside, when opened it to was dead at an early development stage! I recandled the two remaining eggs, both still seem to have visable red veins in them, not black like the last two, so I hope that they are okay, but I am not holding my breath! If this clutch is all done, Ali and Buffy will go into a holding cage for a few weeks to regain strength and weight! I will give her another go in the breeding cages and see if she will go down in them this time.
