A Little Help For My Babies Please!
Best advice i can give you to get them to take to the syringe is dip it in a cup of boiling hot water the touch it to the side of their beak with the drip still on it. They'll gobble it up straight away, whether used to it or not usually. To start them weaning put seeds on the floor of the cage or in a shallow dish/plate and some greens. To change them into a cage only once they're fully feathered and flying i'd say.

Best shot i could get of him!!! He refused to hold still! - And his mug shot I'll have to get another photo to add in of his "boof" in the morning when he's in the aviary as he refused to show it off to the camera in the bathroom. Splayed Feet?
Splay legs make the chicks legs part from the hips (like us doing the splits). They have trouble walking and need their joints to be strengthened up with a sort of sponge splint. What it sounds like you have if a lack of calcium, which doesn't allow them to straighten the toes and they curl inward... a bit like bowed legs in people... but it's in the birds feet. It can be corrected in early stages with added calcium, but i'm not sure at later stages... try giving some calcium as an extra top up?

Confused?
Quickest way i find is to press the print screen button, paste it in paint, crop it... then shrink it and upload, then you're ready to go don't even need to use the photobucket edit button when you get them small enough in paint

Tcb Pairing Outcome!
I hate losing special birds!!! I mean no bird is replacable, but fallows are sure alot harder to get hold of and keep going in an aviary unless you have a few. Sorry you lost her One day they'll make a Pink budgie Although it'll probably be some butt ugly hybrid with a rosa bourke hehe Norm or Norma... either sounds good to me And the name is sooo not cursed You should see Frodo now (the fallow i bred) he's gorgeous and getting bigger by the week I shall do an update post of how all 4 of my first show chicks are looking What song is that from By The Way? It tells lies though Blues can still be HOT

Confused?

Two New Birds For My Flock!
Gorgeous birds!!! I love your DF cock!!!
-
Whats With These Big Budgies?
Show budgies are bred from show budgies. You can't get show budgies from a pet type. Show budgies are a very sought after and attractive bird which compete world wide. I wouldn't necessarily say they're unattractive, but they do take a bit of time to get used to the look... It grows on you...

Tcb Pairing Outcome!
Curse or no curse so be it

Whats With These Big Budgies?
They were probably show birds culled from a local breeder.

What Is A Df Spangle?
okay lets try it this way.... You have three kinds of "GENES" ( non denim) They are: Dominant (green, dominant pied, yellowface, spangle) Recessive ( blue, recessive pied, greywing, fallow) & sex linked ( cinnamon, opaline, ino, lacewing,) All of these genes have different rules which apply to them to get them to show up in a chick. However when two of the same kind of gene of either Spangle, dominant pied or Yellowface type 1 are in the same bird they change the appearance. A single factor spangle bird will have reverse markings on the wings and the usual body colouring and base coloured face (light edged with dark, as opposed to dark edged with light that you see in a normal bird) However, when two spangle genes combine together you get a Df spangle. This bird has no wing markings and no body colouring. The whole bird is base coloured with black eyes and has iris rings. (e.g. white, yellow or in the case of a yf bird a lighter yellow) Other examples of DF birds are when two dominant pied genes are together. These birds have very minimal markings and are hard to tell apart from a recessive pied. The main give away unless used to spotting them is that they have iris rings and cocks can still get Cere colouring. The YF1 gene when doubled gives you a White-faced bird. Although You can't necessarily tell it's there, when bred it gives 100% yf offspring. This only works with type 1 though.... So does that help? Basically it describes a bird who has two gene of either dom pied, spangle or yf1. Df only changes these genes... mating greywing to greywing or green to green doesn't mean they're df's
