Hey, i resent that! lol! I work, just during the week with my neice and nephew, the spare time is a blessing! I just haven't got alot to do when I can't harass the budgies or people who're asleep
  5. I won't feed shells anymore unless the birds can chose to eat them. I had a chicks crop block due to sand grain sized egg shell which it was fed...

It's a bird, it's a plane... it's a guinea pig ???? Noo!!!!!! it's a birdy bum!!!!! - the real fake eye - Notttt!!! *no birds were harmed in the making of this guinea pig *
  7. why boil it for 20 minutes Daz? I've become lazy with the eggs I mix into my fresh foods for the birds and now throw it into the bottom of a coffee cup so it cracks and breaks the yolk, swirl it around for 10 second, so it all mixes and then Nuke it in the microwave for a minute. When it comes out it's "hard boiled" I think chop it all up including the shell into fine pieces and add it to the green mix.
  8. It's something to do with the movie troy, i remember the name being thrown around somewhere in that movie amongst the hot actors

I agree rat poison isn't humane, I stated that already also, it does however seem more humane than slowly blocking up their digestive system and rendering them incapable of using any of those organs. The pain associated with that would be much more than poisoning. It would also be much slower. The poison shuts down the whole system, the cement would take a much longer time to take affect.

congratulations !!!! I'm VERY glad to hear you got your bubs in the end and she did well for you You know where I am if you need any help at all most people handle them from day 1, it all depends on the mother though and if she's accepting of it, which I'd say she is

That sounds like a horrible painful way to :S No offence, since poison is not much better, but that seems like it would be a slower process...

I feel sick even reading this We've had one rat who we've seen (about 4 x a large mouse size) in one of our cabinets and we've had mice who dug into my love bird aviary!!! Since we first saw it we've had rat sack down behind the cabinets, no sign of any rats back now, although the holes keep re-appearing in the love bird aviary :@ When we get time and good weather and when the chicks they have have come out we will remove the adults to move the aviary and pave the floor! very un impressed! I'm very thankful we've not had any dead birds from it... Although we found a dead mouse in the lovebird box, with the babies and the mum!!!! Comes with the territory of bird owning i spose if seeds and husks and what not are around to entice them! Very sorry for your losses Kaz, this hasn't been a good month recently for you
  17. Depends what you are personally chasing? Do you want to know if he's split blue?
  18. Is it big enough to breed parrots in? I thought they needed flights as opposed to up and down cages because they prefer to use their wings (even when clipped will still try) Where as lori's use their legs...
  19. Well i'd put him to an opaline hen if you have no normal ones. That way you'd see if the pied gene is there and if the spangle gene is (definate spangles 50% dom pied off spring) The cocks will be split to opaline, unless the dad already is, then you'll get opalines also.
  20. I'd say tame lori's would be the best suited to that aviary.
  21. incubation period for budgies is roughly 18 days, sometimes a little less or usually at this time of the year you'll find it to be a little more. Lovebirds are 22 - 23 days, which may also fluctuate. By slate you probably mean Mauve as slates are VERY rare.
  22. Any picture of her back, if she has opaline or anything else also?
  23. Yeah that's what I meant Norm I thought they were spangle on first glance also, untill I looked closer and saw they were light grey, then the boarder of dark grey then the edging of white, so like a normal feather, but faded in the solid part, you can see it in the wing picture where it's stretched out. In some of his longer feathers where you see the whole feather. Well the green is Norm or Norma! I'm guessing it's a norma by it's bite
  24. She's a cobalt YF spangle. I have a boy named Jack who looks Identical to her! they're gorgeous
  25. Not luck, beginners fluke They look spangle but if you look closer at some of the bigger feathers they're Dark edged with light as opposed to light edged with dark. We were confused at first when we first saw them also until we looked at those feathers. Although the smaller feathers definatly look spangle, I plucked one to have a good look (yes I know mean!) It's a light grey that goes to a dark grey on the edges and then edged by white, which gives the spangle look because you can't see the first grey part nor the last white part. So which would you like named after you norm :hap: :hap:
