  1. Love the stealing the bank card photo!!! great shots
  2. Okie doke Well, that diet is JUST enough, however there's always room to add more, e.g more fresh fruit and veg, egg and biscuit and so on... They're probably not eating the cuttlebone as it's probably turning sour, try calcium in their water or calcium bells, they last longer and they will eat them slower with a higher concerntrate of calcium. Birds should be wormed regularily as well as kept lice/mite free. other medications should be kept on hand for the more common situation which arise. I keep liquid calcium, sulphadim and multi vitamin on hands at all times. You could fit WELL over that amount in there. My aviary is about 3.6 x 2.2 and I have roughly 80 birds in there at any one time, sometimes less. They have plenty of room So yours should have LOTS! Do you have your aviary covered as a wet aviary is a breeding ground for bacteria and disease? Hope that helps, only my opinion, others may differ
  3. I'm always out back so walk past and peek in the fronts of the cabinets, I try to only check IN the acutal nest box twice a day and once a day for eggs... When they're laying If I can see the new egg and the hen is fine then I leave them... When there's chicks I check morning and night to make sure no top up feeds need to be done I don't think I could take it as far as a "security cam" hehe

Well... perhaps he's the post mans kid? He sure doesn't look like either of his biological parents He's cute, going to have to watch out for him, hit upper school in high school and the girls will be after him like african animals to a water hole!
  5. First tip to breeding in my opinion... Don't count your chicks before they hatch as you'll only be disappointed if all doesn't go to plan... Expect nothing and you can't be let down Sometimes the hen won't sit immediatly which changes when eggs are due and so on, or she sits too tight. Lots of greens, sunlight and fresh food and water are the best you can give them whilst breeding, good luck

  13. I've heard baby wash is okay to bathe birds in ( wild life rescuers use it for the native animals contaminated in oil spills) Just avoid the face as much as possible i'd say

  18. Aww thankyou Throwback, I'm sure everyone on this forum would've done the same
  19. I agree she is pretty, If my friend doesn't want the cock back he can live out the rest of his days in retirement in my aviary, the hen, if she pulls up fine in the long run I have plans for Or is that partners?
  20. Well they're not exactly about to pose for a photo since they're aviary birds LOL! My tame boys, maybe... These guys, no hope in h*ll! LoL!
  21. Well it's not one of them in their cage per say But it's them sitting out on the birdy inside perch Their cage is nothing special anyway, just a small quarintine/hospital cage :hap: Tomorrow they're going into the big world, a patio aviary we have with nothing in it at the moment You can see how much brighter they're although still a big hit and miss for the cock.
  22. Well I'm happy to report the hen is 99% better :hap: The cock is taking slower to recover as I suspect he's alot older than her, he also has ALOT of feather loss and bald spots, which is another indicator of his age ! Here are some pictures to compare with the before and after - Cock close up. His beak is looking so much better and his wounds from the scaly mite burrows coming off are healing :hap: - and again - His feet look alot better also although there's still some minor mites left. He also had scaly mites on his wings (where the feather quill enters the skin) Although after a treatment that has healed also - Hens beak. looking MUCH better and has almost finished the re-shaping, no more drop down bits or over grown bottom mandible. - again - And her feet, looking sooo good! although she lost ALOT of toe nails which were only connected by the mite burrows to her toes. She now has one toe nail per foot
