Well it's been a while, things are hectic with planning a wedding and working full time! Skitz and Yasmin are going great guns - here is a picture of them from the weekend (sorry it's a bad picture, its so hard to get a good picture of them together! http://www.shellet.net/skitzandyasmin.jpg I've put in a breeding box today so it will be interesting to see what happens Image changed to a link as it exceeded the forum guidelines maximum size of 450 x 450 pixels. I sure lucked out I reckon I changed the branches this afternoon, ive got two on the side, and two coming up from the bottom of the cage so they have a climbing gym down to their food, and they love it, its amazing the difference between boring pet store perches, to natural gum tree perches! Running around and chirping they are now hehe Here's a quick pick of the setup - not that you can see much! I've ordered some toys as well so hopefully they will be in on Monday

Yesterday I went and met Kaz and came home with two beauties from her Aviary, a violet opaline hen (who's name is Yasmin), and a blue / violet (un-named so far)male (I'm hopeless with getting the types right if anyone could help me out!) Here are some photo's! I left them alone yesterday to settle in & get acquainted with our dog. Our dog never barks, but I heard her barking at the birds, so I told her off and she hasn't been near them since This morning I had Yasmin on my finger eating millet from my hand. The boy is still skittish which is to be expected (I'm thinking of calling him skitz hehe) Pay no attention to the perches in the photo's - I've just found some gum tree branches (figured out that a tree in our back yard is a gum tree derr) so I'm about to replace them with those once I've sterilised them.

Thanks Bea for the idea's! I was thinking about changing the perches to side ones so I will definately do that And will find more toys for them hehe. I ran out of time today, always the way.

I've been out all day finding a good cage ready for my new arrivals. This is what I ended up with... http://www.shellet.net/cagesetup.jpg Does anyone have any suggestions for improvement? I will be replacing the dowel perches with branches ASAP & I am trialling the feeder and water dispenser to see how they go at this stage. Cage will eventually be going outside (once the fiance is done with rebuilding & painting his car!) under the patio, so I thought the best place for it would be in front of a window for now. I will also be upgrading eventually as well, this is just to start me off. Thanks

Ahh. That's okay then. We don't allow Pet stores to be named on here. Do you have idea's on what colours you want? Well I've always loved greys and violets so I will be on the lookout for them Also blue's so I will see what I end up with

Why no ask on the forums the answer could help another or someone later on. Hi Nerwen, thanks for the welcome I thought I had better not ask on the forums because I didn't want to get anyone in trouble for naming names on a public place - I can't see the bird shop liking that to much!

I thought I would introduce myself – I'm Shelley & I'm getting back into the wonderful world of Budgie's! I had a small flock a few years ago, after my two had babies, however my living situation changed, and I had to move back home with a bird hating cat, so I had to find a good home for them L Luckily I was able to find a good home that took all of them, so they are all still together I'm now engaged and living with my fiancé (so everything is more stable now!), and have cleared it with my landlord, so I am able to start up a patio aviary and bring the little characters back into my life I've nearly finished setting up the cage etc and then I will find my new babies. Does anyone know of any good breeders around the Perth area? I'm in Ballajura. At this stage I am looking at getting 2 -4 budgies around the 1 – 2 year age bracket. I have gotten my previous budgies from a bird shop but was just reading a post by Kaz from back in April that was ringing alarm bells … I will PM Kaz about that though! Look forward to posting more regularly on here!
