Watery Poop
All appears normal this morning, she must have been a bit stressed last night. It was a long trip home on a hot day so not surprising.

Watery Poop
I purchased a new budgie today, and tonight when I had her out I noticed she was watery, light green poop. I looked in her cage and most poops are normal, others are watery. Is this something I need to be concerned about, and if so, what can I do? She is in quarantine in the house, the other birds are outside in the aviary, so no concerns there.

Seed
Just wandering if there is a best/preferred brand of seed for budgies? I have been using Whistler, from the supermarket, as the birds love it and it contains pellets and fruit(I mix the budgie and cockatiel types together as I have both birds in the aviary). What about in bulk? Anywhere is Western Sydney that sells decent seed in bulk(20kg or more)?

Colours & Mutations
So I can breed him to any of my hens and get cinnamons? I was thinking of breeding him to Lime, just because she is green too, and they have already paired up in the aviary. Or would any of my other hens be a better match?

Colours & Mutations
Cool! So, how do I breed more cinnamons? Breed him to a cinnamon hen? Elly, thanks for linking the pics

Rspca Called On Me!
The RSPCA really annoys me. They are happy for pet shops and the like to sell sick and injured animals, and house them in tiny enclosures until sale to God knows who, and not respond to numerous complaints from the public, yet they respond to a single complaint from a nosy neighbour who has nothing better to do. Really bugs me Good luck with it, hopefully they go after those who are keeping their animals inhumanely and don't bug you.

Lychee has black eyes, doesn't creamino have red eyes? And Avocado, I was certain he is a normal green

Colours & Mutations
Thanks for that Grape and Grapefruit are the parents on Guava and Lychee, if that helps to determine Lychee..?

Colours & Mutations
I'd like to know what colours/mutations my budgies are. So I did my best today to get some photos, forgive the quality, it's hard to keep aviary birds still! I've posted pics of some of them before, but not all. Papaya- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/papaya.jpg Mango- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...Birds/mango.jpg Lychee- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/lychee.jpg Lime- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r.../Birds/lime.jpg Guava- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...Birds/guava.jpg Grapefruit- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r.../grapefruit.jpg Grape- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/grape1.jpg Cherry- http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...irds/cherry.jpg Avocado- (I know he's normal green, just adding him so he doesn't feel left out ) http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa184/r...rds/avocado.jpg And, what colours/mutations would I get if I paired Papaya with Cherry or Mango? (sorry about the sizes, I tried to resize but it didn't work..)

Moving The Nest
Yeah I'd leave her in the box and move it. I'll give it a go tomorrow, hopefully she stays put

Moving The Nest
I have a determined budgie hen who has squeezed her way through the entrance of a finch nest box, and has laid and is sitting on 5 eggs. I don't mind her breeding in the box, as the finches have never used it, and it is quite roomy(almost as big as my budgie boxes, except the hole being smaller), but, every time I let budgies breed in the aviary, the whole clutch never makes it to fledging(not sure why, possibly wild mice(even though I try to keep them away), or maybe the hens fight over the clutch/nest). Which is why I now use cabinets for breeding. So I'm wondering if I was to move the pair, nest box with eggs, out of the aviary and into a cabinet, will she keep sitting? She's raised chicks before in a cabinet. Or, I just leave them in the aviary and hope for the best.

Mulberry
Great, thanks for that

Mulberry
Does anyone know if mulberry(fruit, leaves and branches) is safe for budgies? I'm wanting to trim back our tree and thought the branches may be okay for the aviary. Thanks

Sprouting Seed
Wow, I never knew that about bleach! Thankyou, I'll have to give it a try

Mixing Budgie's?
I have a mixed aviary. 9 budgies, 2 red rumped grass parrots, 6 cockateils, and 4 zebra finches. Plus the king and jap quail on the floor. They all have their own little areas and don't bother each other. No problems at all. I don't provide nest boxes which I think is why they don't fight, I just put the pairs I want to breed into the breeding cages.

Safe Trees/shrubs
I'm wanting to put a living plant in my aviary. I'm thinking something like a bottle brush, or other grevillia. Are these safe for budgies, finches, cockateils and grass parrots? Or what other tree or shrub can I use? I just think it will make the aviary look a whole lot nicer, and I'm sure the birds will love it.

What Colours?
The chicks left the nest today. I finally managed to get pics of them. So, dad's a YF2 opaline spangle, mum's a opaline spangle?, yellow bub is a dark eyed clearwing(from what I have seen online..)?, and the other bub a double factor spangle?

What Colours?
Can someone tell me what colours 2 of my budgies are please? They currently have 2 four week old chicks, I'll add updated photos of them tomorrow. And one of the chicks at about a week old-

Should I Handraise?
The chick passed away overnight I'm glad I didn't take him from the nest, I would have felt so guilty. I just got some pics of the parents and the other 2 chicks, I'll post them in a bit

Should I Handraise?
My breeding pair of budgies has clutch of three babies. The oldest is 2 weeks old today, the next 2 hatched 2 days apart. I'm worried about the youngest one, he is half the size the older 2 were at that age, hasn't grown much over the past few days, and is always being pushed around and trodden on by the older 2. But he always has a full crop. I'm wondering if I should pull him from the nest and handraise him, or leave him in the nest and let nature take it's course, whatever way it should go. If I need to handraise him, do I just use the mix the sell at the pet shop? How often should I feed him? Thanks

Babies!
I'm so excited! I have 2 newly hatched baby budgies! With 2 eggs still to hatch. When I placed the parents in the breeding cage, I didn't really expect them to breed as they have been unsuccessful in the past, so I was surprised to find eggs let alone babies! Squeee! (note to self, must calm down!). I'll try to get pics of the happy family in a few days.

Can Budgies Live Wih Other Birds?
I have a large aviary of mixed species. I currently have 7 budgies, 2 cockateils, 4 zebra finches and 2 red rumped grass parrots. They are living happily together, and have plenty of room to fly around, and look and sound very happy. But, I have a friend who keeps telling me that I shouldn't have them all together as this will kill that, that will kill this and so on. I've housed them together for ages and haven't had trouble. So I want the experts opinion. Can I continue to house them together, or should I seperate them? I'm currently building another aviary that the zebra finches and quail(kings) will move into, as I would like to breed zebras, but I'd like everything else to remain together. I do breed budgies every now and then, but take out a pair and place them into a smaller aviary for breeding. What do you think?
