  1. so it might be somewhat the same but still a bit harder because budgies are way smaller than cats and dogs and sometimes they are not tame. Dont worry too much about cutting their nails, you only have to cut them in extreme cases.
  2. can't you have your birds sleep earlier and wake up later?? In the evening just put a towel ontop of your cage at 7:30 so that they fall to sleep at eight. And in the morning wake them up right before you go to school, not when you wake up.
  3. i think that would be a little probelm because budgies should get 12 hours sleep, 10 is minimum and some even upto 14 hours.
  4. 2 days ago i bought a budgie bath (they type you hang on the door) and right after i put it in all my budgies, they jumped in. Before my birds never liked to take baths.
  5. dont worry, some males do some don't. It's not uncommon at all.
  6. right know im breeding her and Chico. But after looking at those 2 pictures isnt she blue for sure??
  7. they all look gorgeous. For you 2007 must have been an awesome year!
  8. Quote "Violet Factor - If a budgie has a violet factor, you may or may not know it. True violet only shows up on cobalt budgies (white-based budgies with one dark factor) or, if double factor, on sky blue budgies(white-based budgies with no dark factor). It is very hard to tell if yellow-based budgies carry a violet factor. The violet usually darkens the green of the body feathers similarly to a dark factor. Sometimes, if you look closely, a violet tinge will be visible on the body feathers near the feet and vent of a green budgie with violet factor. Sky blue budgies with one violet factor will have a violet tinge, especially in the body feathers near the feet, and sometimes look darker than a normal sky blue. It is very difficult to detect violet factor in mauve budgies." Thats exactly the case with Kiky. But it could still be a green budgie with a violet factor. Kikiy also has a little blue on the vent and near the feet. So I think she is violet for sure - question is: green or blue series?
  9. Well Done, good luck with building the second. Elly, do you have a link for everything?
  10. easy? NO!
  11. I found two pictures that I took 3 month ago, if you look closely you can see bluebut you have to zoom in. http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s98/177...nt=DSC02876.jpg http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s98/177...nt=DSC03007.jpg

  14. but if you can get a lacewing if you pair a lutino or albino to cinnamon, than it cannot be a seperate mutation can it. Wouldnt it just be a cobination of mutations that's given a diffrent name (lacewing).
  15. They don't need as much room as you might think, do they? I often see my birds squeezing into the water feeder I have in the aviaries if they want a wash between me giving the a bath to play in. Feathers. i know what you mean feathers. Mine used to do that all time too.
  16. macka, MACKA??? SHE?? You are right Nerwen. the cheekpateches are very violet. not blue or black at all. I was wondering if I should've said that before you posted that. so if she is a yf she has the violet factor as well?? So a skyblue violet yft2 rec. pied? Or is she a goldenface?? ps: this is getting confusing
  17. weel done kaz and steel. Third place for a first time budgie show is awesome in my opinion.
  18. i dont think so. Its probably more complicated with birds, especially if they are untame. I also dont think cats and dogs have veins in their nails do they??
  19. yes, i believe we said olive...
  20. im not sure about the moulting but i can answer the second question. You do sometimes, but sometimes you dont. It depends on if your budgie has a cement perch (or any other type of rough perch). Sometimes even if you dont have a cement perch you dont have to cut your budgies nails. It is diffrent for every budgie.. but make sure you have it done by a vet, because it's not as easy as it sounds.
  21. okay thanks. So do you think that Kiky is in fact yf or is she just light green?
  22. they are so cute Norm!
