  1. Hi Vicky, the first 3 photos are absolutely fantastic. As Kaz said, nice subject, good photography. Feathers.
  2. Hi Bec, I was going to suggest high protein food, like egg food, which is good for any bird moulting. Have you seen him actually eating? nothing going in would equal nothing going out and a skinny, dying bird. Worms could also cause a skinny bird. If he is still no better by now an avian vet would be a great idea. Feathers PS: LOVE the new sig!!
  3. Karen, wow, I haven't seen that before All I know is that it makes him even prettier! Feathers.
  4. Kaz, that is amazing!! As for names, although I love "Beckham', that is what the hen should be names as she did the soccering. By that theory so far, Humpty, hatrick or miracle fit best. Feathers.
  5. Hi Elly, he does the 'budgie shake' just like Kazumi after his baths Love the last photo... as you would say.. have you considered entering it in the Budgie of the Month competition Feathers.
  6. Hi Briony, closer pics of the ceres would be good, using the macro setting of your camera. From the photos you have posted, so far, they both look male to me. They are really, REALLY, nice looking budgies. Feathers
  7. Feathers replied to Elly's topic in Budgie Pictures
Hi Elly, he is a cutie and what a big patch on the back of his head, I never realised! Feathers.
  8. Hi Sailorwolf, I wouldn't clip it. Kazumi had a sore wing for a while and during that time he was flying a bit more awkwardly, but it did heal. Just let him rest it for a while and see how it goes. Feathers. ps. I didn't know they had a wrist, I thought they only had, like, shoulder and elbow joints. As they say, you learn someting new every day.
  9. Hi all, Kazumi took his love of all things I like to put in my mouth a little bit too far on Saturday morning, he didn't appreciate the hot cup of tea I was drinking at all! So I figured some nice cool water would help, which it did because he was drinking a fair bit. He soon got other ideas though.... Woohoo! look, water!! Hey, stop flashing at me! Hmm, maybe if I sit on it, it will stop! I just can't resist the water though... [cue music] Splish, Splash I was takin' a bath... I kept my head dry! okay! I know I'm wet, leave me alone. [shake, shake, shake] Do I look better, Mum? Ahh, dry again This picture I have just included as the result wasn't planned, but I like the effect. Feathers.
  10. Hi Zebra, that sounds great.... can't wait to see pics of it! Feathers.
  11. Briony, Briony, careful now, it is hard to beat the habit... of buying new budgies! [Feathers waits excitedly for photos] Feathers.
  12. Hi Flipper, your baby looks like a boy, but as Kaz said a clearer picture of the cere (coloured part above the beak) would help. Could you also get photos of your green bald bird's cere too. Feathers.
  13. Hi Blinky & Ben, She is very pretty and looks to still be young (under 4 - 5 months). She looks in good condition to me too. Hopefully she was just a little stressed with the move. You never know, she may have only just arrived at the shop in the last day or two, so it could be the result of two upheavals in her short little life. Feathers.
  14. Hi again SJW, Uh-oh, to me, looks like a blue based bird, not a green. You can see the yellow on the face is very bright. In a Yellow Face type 2 the yellow colour 'bleeds' through the body feathers and turns white to yellow and blue to green. If you look under her wings I think that you will see blue patches. Feathers.
  15. Macka, well done! When you asked for the rng code I thought something was afoot. These backyard mill breeders that don't give a hoot about their birds give good breeders a bad name! Denise, everyone has been so enraged about the breeder nobody has answered your question: yes, they certainly are too old. A hen should not be bred past 4 years of age and a cock 6 years. Feathers.
  16. I tried that. Apparently MINE tastes better! Feathers. ps. Bea, you must be in the middle of exams or you have been away. I haven't seen you about in the last couple of days.
  17. SJW, SHE is a beautiful yellow face skyblue recessive pied I have a bird named "Oh oh" Feathers.
  18. Paul, SO sorry to read about this. You have such great successes with your breeding program usually. Sometimes it is hard to know 'why'? Feathers
  19. [Feathers rolls up fisticuffs] say, where do I enrol for this debate? Feathers.
  20. Hey Bec, What a little cutie Feathers.
  21. Kaz, just brilliant Lucky Lady! Feathers
  22. It's pretty sad that I felt the need to add the qualification to the bottom of that post. I just had the awful thought that someone may actually believe me!
  23. Hi Steph and Billie, welcome to the BBC forum. I look forward to getting to know you both better. Your Billie sounds as cheeky as my little cereal thief, Kazumi. I agree with the above replies, Billie is definitely over 5 months of age and probably under 7 years It is really hard, without a ring on a leg to guess the age of a budgie that has already been through it's first moult. That isn't important though, as you have got a great bond with him regardless of his age. I'm looking forward to more photos Feathers.
  24. Bahahaha... Just goes to show how much YOU TWO KNOW!! You count the feathers!! They start with 358 and they grow a new one every month! Feathers. ps.. It is easiest if you remove the feathers as you count them, or you might have to start again (and PUL-LEASE no one take this seriously)
  25. Hi Kaz, Looking good, but all your birds do. I love the wing pattern definition on the violet normal closest in the first picture. Just beautiful. Feathers.
