  1. Thank you so much for your replies I wonder if he will believe it still with all the experts responses ! The Rosa is a lovely bird and very sweet, when we first got her we were told to put her in with our finches , so we did and she was MISERABLE !! they were all zooming around her and she hated it , I then did some research and saw that they like to fly around and be sociable to an extent , she is happy in the cage with the others and follows the budgies around , especially chickee my male budgie , my cockatiel who unfortunately flew away on monday loved her too ... so glad we took her out of the finch cage , all of my birds except the finches only sleep in their cages , for the most part they are flying about the place .
  2. Hi there, my partner and I are disputing whether Motley is a M or F , I think its a girl mainly because of her behaviour, she is very nasty and a bully to our other birds , we found her approx 3 months ago being attacked by lorikeets and her prev owner hacked the feathers off her wing so she couldnt fly , so her wing has since started growing back .... we had her isolated as of a couple of weeks ago , but we trialed her in our bIgger cage with our other 2 budgies (M&F) a cockatiel and a Rosa Bourke and she has just taken over , the others dont even want to go back into their cage when she is in there , and when we do finally get them in , she chases them off their purches and bites their tails and wings , she is really agressive , but with my male Budgie she seems to get along with him fine , i have isolated her again into her own cage so they can at least get some sleep , when they are out of the cage they can at least fly away from the little terror ! her cere is also a laventder colour which is what is making my partner think its a boy EVEN though I have shown him pics of females with Lavender ceres , I would love to hear from the experts if possible !
  3. those pics are awesome !! and those cute little flat top canaries are SO CUTE with their "feather do's" (Laughing out loud) what a sweet little menagerie you got going there :budgiedance:
  4. hey Djelibaybi All I can say is thank your lucky stars its not your MALE thats fallen for u !! My chico loves feet and well, lets just say he gets a little TOO excited on them!! apparently its not uncommon for them to fall in love with their owners, but i dont have a female for Chico so I am it !! but for you to have a male in there with her is strange that she hasnt put her attentions on him.... UNLESS budgies can tell age differences !! (Laughing out loud) anyways I know its not uncommon, so now ya got 2 girlfriends !!! hehehehe
  5. thanks for the friendly information Karen, I am glad to know Chico isnt the only budgie out there who likes his own poop
  6. On my little Chico ..... for the past 2 weeks or so, he has been making these funny little "puffy" noises which are SO CUTE, but its usually to the ends of you know those rope fixtures you can put in the cages, the big plastic things, and it looks like he is almost trying to feed them .... he was GLUED to one (not literally) last week and now migrated tot he one in his cage, and he seems to just want to stay there and coo and make these noises and stuff .... occasionally he will have his little crazy flying spree and hang with me, but not as much as before, he is just under a year old and I am thinking he is going through some sort of hormonal thing possibley, as males tend to feed their young , he also gets very amorous on my foot at times so he probably wouldnt mind some female budgie lovin !! but anyways, i hope its a little phase and he will soon get over it cause I miss his cheeky little self Oh and one other thing ... he has a YUKKY habit of munching on his dry poo in his travel cage ... he doesnt do it in his big cage at home, only this one, he LOVES to travel as I bring him to work at times , so it cant be nerves ....he is chirpy and fun and cute but tends to go on the floor of the cage to chew on the dry poo .... as soon as I see him do it I clean it all away .... do others do that too ? is that normal or does he have a strange fetish ?? (Laughing out loud) ANY feedback appreciated THANKS !!
  7. Sailor, cant remember if it was you or not ... but do I recall you posting something about wanting to get another little one for your lonely budgie ?? and now you have all of these !!?? forgive me if it wasnt you, but if it was, looks like you went Budgie crazy !! and rightly so ... they are toooo cute !
  8. VERY cool shots !!! I'm going to have to practice !!
  9. Fantastic shots !!! I know what u mean re them being too fast , but you did REALLY well !!!
  10. MissHarley replied to Feathers's topic in Budgie Pictures
they were such cute pictures !!! he looks like he is an adorable bird .... I would love it if chico let me take pics of him but as soon has he sees the camera he flies right on top of the camera the little bugger !!
  11. I was thinking of doing that at the time Spartan but luckily it was in the day and i put him out in the sun to dry off ... I know the noise of the vaccumm cleaner doesnt bother Chico and birds naturally fly in wind as well .... I would say I will keep that in mind for next time but Hopefully there wont BE a next time !...
  12. thanks for your replies everyone Marlony he is actually a sky blue dominant.... such pretty colours he has , although looking motley cause of his recent molt .... Chico is a cute name for a budgie I think .... and he even speaks some spanish !! You are right Feathers when you said it scared me more than it did him, they just seem to be such tough little buggers sometimes !! but he is definately back to his normal self now ...
  13. these quizes are GREAT !! I am learning so much !
  14. MissHarley replied to Elly's topic in Budgie Talk
Not going to say my score BUT I did learn some things !! I always thought the foot going back was just a stretch, but I notice Chico doing it moreso when I pick his cage up to transport him so it makes sense !
  15. Yup he is all good !! I even called the vets to see if I did the right thing and she said yes, ESPECIALLY the fact I didnt use any soap .... he is back to his normal self now ... and u are right Bea ... he was just sulking cause he was SOAKING wet ! poor little bugger ... anyways lesson learned by me, Lids on everything !! lucky the water was cold !
