No, I didn't have that one. Very handy to know. Thank you.
  2. Haha... I think I've found it. It's not a budgie though. Quaker Parakeet No red eyes, but hey... beggars can't be choosers. This one looks even more like the picture. Another Quaker Parakeet
  3. That's exactly what I thought! I was about to say that and then you already had!
  4. Janette replied to Cheeky's topic in New to BBC
Congratulations Cheeky! He/she's a beautiful little budgie. I'm sorry, I'm not sure on the sex there... I'd hazard a guess that you might have a little girl, but I'm really not very good at knowing that, especially once their head stripes have gone. I thought the cere changed around the same time as their stripes went. I'm probably completely off. Well, whichever he/she is, you've got a real cuteypie. I can see why you're disappointed about having another that looks like Cheeky, but you know that this one'll have its own unique little personality and you'll soon be just as in love as you were with Cheeky. I wish you the best of luck with training and bonding and I hope she settles in well. Janette x. *edit* hmm... must have been posting at the same time as lovey... just ignore my comments about the sex. I'm still learning! p.s. How old is he? Do you know?

Don't forget to touch wood, Phoebe!

Well, you know what they say... You're as young as you feel! Good for him to be so energetic still.

Slightly but I thought greens didn't have any of the yellowface/goldenface stuff because their base colour is yellow anyway. Does that only apply to yellowfaces and not goldenfaces?

Thats not right...ebay says it doesn't sell live stock ... Is this different in the UK? No, it's not different, Daz. That guy should know better. What makes me angry is that this is obviously someone who's got bored with his hobby and wants to get rid, as soon as possible. And he doesn't seem to give a **** how he does it. :fear Grrr...
  9. I think Nerwen meant out of breeding condition. She is a beautiful girl, whatever. You're very lucky to have one so tame so soon!

Well done you. It's horrible to think where they could have ended up just being sold to any kind of home at a garage sale like that! At least you found them and they'll have a loving, responsible home now. They're both beautiful too! I especially like the yellow one, but I always have a soft-spot for beautiful greens. How about Jasmine for the yellow one, and Eden for the green?

thats what confused me, (Laughing out loud) hmmm...

I assumed we're talking about feeding parents, in order for them to better cope with feeding chicks. I think.

Hmm... yeah. I forgot about that post. I think the rule for dark green veggies still applies in general though. I guess it's one of those things, that if you feed too much of anything you might get some problems cropping up. I guess the answer is VARIETY.

If she does turn out to be a boy, you'll just have to change his/her name to Monty. You've got lovely birds, by the way. They're all gorgeous.

You could really do with the spinacha and celery being fed the other way around. Spinach holds much more nutrients than celery. Celery is a good source of water, but definitely for nutrition you should go with the idea that - dark green (eg spinach, endive etc.) or orange (eg carrot) = healthy and crammed with vitamins etc. light green (eg iceberg lettuce, celery) = watery and not so good for nutrition.

That's wonderful! I'm really pleased for you and your little darling.

I think you need to take her to an avian vet. She doesn't sound well to me. How have you come to the conclusion that she's egg bound? Being overly puffy and sleepy is usually a sign of illness, so it could be a number of things besides egg binding that's making her act this way. Also, just curious, why does she have a nest box?
  19. Oh, they're adorable! I couldn't believe the size of that cage when the video panned out. I'm so envious; I wish my birds had that much space to have a proper fly about in, not just a hoppy flappy about thing. I'm turning greener and greener as I type. *makes note* Remember to steal Shawna's bird cage (including birds) and transport to UK. Note to self - try not to get caught at customs.
  20. They eradicated your neighbours! :fear I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of the council where you live. :fear :hap:
  21. Heebie jeebies :budgiedance: I love you Scots.

Well, at least these little birds have got you. :feedbirds: It's such a shame about the dogs. How did that come about? Were they just dumped there? I wished I could read turkish so I could understand all the writing after the pictures.
  23. I'm afraid I can't recommend anything. However, I will just say this, we all know how fragile our little budgies can be, don't we? Well, a cockroach can withstand being frozen alive at sub-zero temperatures and will probably be the only creatures to survive a nuclear world war. I'm finding it hard to belive there can be anything budgie safe that will kill roaches. Perhaps you should consider sending the birds on a brief holiday while you sort out the roach problem properly. Do you have any friends or relatives you could take them to for a little while?

That is horrific! :hap: I hope whoever did that is found and treated just as humanely. :hap:
