I totally understand the thinking behind getting the new budgie and how it helps you deal with the loss and emptiness. Sounds like a lovely choice, and kudos to you for choosing so carefully I am truly sorry to hear about this loss also Lib....really sorry

Omelette's Babies
I have noticed these chicks are long and lanky looking.....so my plan of adding some length to the chicks seems to be working out.

I also would leave him in the nest. BUT I am also wondering how you have worked out he has splayed legs at only 4 days of age ?

Doughter And Mom Nesting Together
I have to agree with maesie. What may look cute now, could turn to disaster in the blink of an eye. many a mother nesting a second round will attack and kill a chick from her first round because it gets back in the nestbox. You really need to be very very careful here that it doesnt happen in this case. I would seperate.

Is He A Normal Green?
I, like Jen, am inclined to think the patch is too large for split to recessive also. I see base colour on the chest and variation on a wing flight too. Pity the flights are cut or we could see more. Tail feathers also have clear areas. Would like more photos please.

Omelette's Babies
White fuzz means opaline........ what colour are the parents ? May I suggest you post in your own topics about this kind of thing so you get other peoples input. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Have spangle chicks in the nestbox. Two at least have white pin feathers too so not green series. Omelette is cinnamon grey green .........her partner is grey green spangle and split for blue.
