I have noticed these chicks are long and lanky looking.....so my plan of adding some length to the chicks seems to be working out.

I also would leave him in the nest. BUT I am also wondering how you have worked out he has splayed legs at only 4 days of age ?

I have to agree with maesie. What may look cute now, could turn to disaster in the blink of an eye. many a mother nesting a second round will attack and kill a chick from her first round because it gets back in the nestbox. You really need to be very very careful here that it doesnt happen in this case. I would seperate.

I, like Jen, am inclined to think the patch is too large for split to recessive also. I see base colour on the chest and variation on a wing flight too. Pity the flights are cut or we could see more. Tail feathers also have clear areas. Would like more photos please.
