  1. Give us all the ring details and any breeders or tassie budgie fanciers on here may be able to help. Otherwise contact the budgerigar council of Tasmanaia for more info. http://www.bctas.info/
  2. These things happen every day to bird keepers and breeders. Its part of it and expected. To change things around you need to teach yourself things that change the odds of bad things happening. To learn how to identify illness in a bird, to learn the importance of quarantining, and to learn you dont clean a cage with the birds IN IT........all helps. Expect things to go wrong and when they dont ..........its a good day Expect to have losses and when you dont....itrs a good day Too many people think bird keeping is easy and bird breeding is easy and when things dont go that way, they get disillusioned. Stick with it, all will turn out in the end.
  3. Well, for a start birds do not get "pregnant" so the only way they get "larger"as such is an egg sized lump under ther tail at the vent just before laying an egg...a day or so before. Double check the flying thing as you need to watch her some more to work out exactly whats going on. There are some birds that dont fly or dont fly well even with all their flight feathers. Whether or not she is about to lay an egg will have nothing to do with her flying ability or not. A flaky crusty cere is a breeding condition thing and scalyface is something entirely different. If you can post some pictures we can help you identifying the problem if there is one.
  4. Past breeding condition for now, not for always.
  5. There is no problems with eggs when using oats as nesting materials.

  11. Coccidiosis is usually responsible for runny poos, birds suddenly on the ground and is highly contagious through the droppings. The so called constipation most likley wasnt constipation at all but the dropping had had a chance to build up around the bottom. When it sets it appears like you would imagine constipation. Budgies rarely get constipation in my experience, and coccidiosis wouldnt or shouldnt cause constipation. However, cocci is highly contagious and any birds in a cage or aviary need to not be reinfecting themselves from droppings form an ill bird. Big cage cleanup needed. Can kill birds in no time at all without treatment. Coccivet being a very good one. Most often affects birds in aviaries where the environment becomes wet throughy rain getting in etc.
