Safe Chemicals For The Rest Of The House
I'm wondering if there is a safe chemical for the rest of the house, i live with my mother and she's a bit of a neat freak. i'm having a down hill battle with the cleaning chemicals, she hates the smell of bleach, and vinegar, so she's using a lysol type cleaner, which i've diluted the Poop out of but i can still smell the cleaner, and i'm worried about the bubs, is there bird friendly cleaner for the rest of the house, walls floors ect... whenever she pulls out the cleaning solutions all the doors and windows get opened, all the fans are going and i sit in the bird room worried... Help! and is lavander oil/extract in a spray bottle watered down misted in the house okay for the fids? i remember reading something about certain extracts being okay...

So At 1 Am My Birds Found Out That
So at 1 am my birds found out that i found out that camera phones can send pictures to computers! and at the same time i found one of the chicks i'm handfeeding out COLD on his stuffed pony. pictures to follow, so at the same time i've decided that i've going to introduce you to a few of my birds. i stopped before i could get them all because they all started to sceetch and my Quakers that are on eggs won't... shut it once they start for a while so yeah. here we go! here is velco and a few pictures to follow of him, out cold on his pony, when i tried to wake him for feeding i got a nasty squeal, then he realized i'm the women with the food. http://www.worldisround.com/photos/24/609/366.jpg http://www.worldisround.com/photos/24/609/367.jpg before i turned off the lamp i'm a smart cookie! http://www.worldisround.com/photos/24/609/368.jpg here is the gang after feeding and you can see in their eyes they want to kill me right now i turned off their lamp! http://www.worldisround.com/photos/24/609/370.jpg now left to right its megatro (don't ask), comet and ajax http://www.worldisround.com/photos/24/609/371.jpg (everyones looking a little fluffly but remember i woke them at 1 am haha to take their pictures...) http://www3.worldisround.com/photos/24/609/372.jpg this is mickey and you can see some of ajax's head http://www3.worldisround.com/photos/24/609/373.jpg here is the lovely bo(green) and reba(blue) they are the parents of the chicks i have right now, you can't really tell but bo has 'castrated' himself possibly, he broke his leg the one closes to you in this picture, in the last 24 hours he's started putting weight on it so i am pleased, he did have a cast but took it off little brat, and reba, well she just always looks stressed out poor thing she's not tame at all... you can see she's bracing her self, the horrid human that stole my babies and takes me to the vet! arg... hehe. anyway good night i have to get up in 2 hours for feeding g'nite! Bad Week....lost Three Budgies
oh my thats just too much for anyone at a time in your life when all things should be happy, i hope your okay. as for cat proofing, borrow a dog for a few days... a cat aggressive one should clear things up a bit, and maybe a spot light for the yard... but that may scare the fids.. anyway you choose to deal with the problem i hope you feel better and you don't loose anyone else!

New Budgie Owner
he could be trying to talk human to you... or just in general on of my guys does something very similar when he's asking for millet. if you still worried call a budgie breeder in your area(pet stores can be useless) or an avian vet

Two Questions Here
So I recently bought two budgies from a local breeder a albino male and a recessive pied hen she is almost completely white with the exception of a small very light blue patch under her right wing and a few bars on her head I’m very new to the genetics ring and need some help in the possible out comes. Cocks parents are an albino split pied cock and an albino hen I believe and hens parents where a diluted sky blue and a recessive blue pied hen. What colours may be possible from them? I’m not 100% sure if that was the combo for the parents but one way or another I think that’s the heritage. I’ll set them up later in the spring, I’ve got budgie and Quaker babies being hand fed and I don’t want too many more right now. Next question Poopie feet, I have a hen that really hates me looking in her box, she never comes out when she has eggs and chicks, so I have to look with her in there, so because of this I don’t clean out the box as often as I probably should. Anyway whenever I pull her babies they have poopie feet with build up and it can take about 10-15 minutes to get it off. The hen removes all bedding right down to the last wood chip or ball of care fresh, so they sit in the bottom with nothing but a layer of poop after a day or so, and it doesn’t help that mommy does her business in there too. What do I do to prevent this? This time around I pulled my chicks probably two weeks earlier that I would have like to just because one of the chicks from her last clutch never regained movement in one of his toes, and I didn’t want to risk it. I’m kind of at a loss, should I glue care fresh to her box bed? Aggravating little bird! Arg (I’ll put pics up soon) One last thing are crested Budgies as a whole are they any harder to breed and raise than any other budgie? THANK YOU!

Baytril?
i've heard nothing but bad things about baytril and if a vet suggests its use, i usually never talk to that vet again. when i had horses, the lady that i boarded with had 3 horses taken down because of the drug, they were yearling that decided to get into something and scratched up their legs. the vet suggested that they should go on baytril. about a week later they started going down respiratory issues they were in a herd of bout 15 horses. maybe it was a bad batch but its a drug i choose to stay away from just in case. sad thing really. stay away from that stuff find another vet as soon as you can.poor guy best wishes hope he's okay

I'm Very Annoyed
Don't worry your aloud to be worried and nasty they're your babies!

Desperately Seeking Help
yes richard wegar. i really prefer him over any of the vets in the city, he discusses what can, may and will happen. and like a lot of the people at the parrot club say he's not as 'snotty' as Kober is, however if you can see her in a dier emergency do!

Desperately Seeking Help
Reena who is your vet, just wondering. if its kober, she's nasty at treating things and usually takes the most aggressive routes to a healthy bird which is good, but sometimes not what you need. maybe ring wegar (north calgary), he can give you some possible home remedies that aren't so aggressive and don't hurt the birds either way. he helped me when i couldn't get up there right away when i rescued a scaly faced budgie. he'll help you that way, if your looking for a more natural approach.

Your Gonna Think I'm A Twit
good no know thanks

Your Gonna Think I'm A Twit
i haven't a clue but... So all of my fids like strongly flavored foods(don't blame them ever tasted pellets... pretty bland) so i was making carrot birdy biscuts, and dumped a bit of fresh ground pepper corns in there... now are pepper corns okay for them? i didn't really think about it before i did it, biscuts are in the oven... should i feed them to the dogs (if they'll eat em) or do the fiddlets get a new treat?

Egg Granules (tropican)
I use high potency for breeders and lifetime for the pets; pellet size is your choice. I live in Canada too, I haven't had a problem with shipping... I buy the bigger bags, take out a week’s portion, and freeze the rest, it keeps well just make sure you seal the containers properly. Good luck!
-
Egg Granules (tropican)
buy online, for me its cheaper than driving to the other side of the city to the only place in town that sells it, who's hours are 10am-3pm mon-fri.... its rediculous....

6 Once Agian..
Velcro! i love that name i haven't found a bird that i think deserves that name yet, but s/he looks beautiful...

New Foods Purchased
In my experience I found that colored pellets compromise poo quality, you can’t tell if your budgie is sick it took me a few runs to the vet with a nest full of chicks and a few other birds, before I figured out it was the food, I love it as far as getting birds to try pellets, but other wise I’d try to say away from it… uncoloured is better, fresh veg is better for treats and just everyday food stuff, all of my birds love carrots, spinach and broccoli… I don’t really think any birds could hate those foods once they try it….
-
Egg Granules (tropican)
i'd stay away from them, when i had a few of my budgies on them their poop just wasn't consistant, i went to the vet twice before i found out it was the food. i switched back to harrison's brand and the stuff i make at home, i found the coloured zupreme does much the same thing,

Budgies On The Road!
i'd go running for the vet, if you can. and keep them anyone keeping that many birds in a small cage like that needs to be ... well i won't say. keep then i'm sure you can give them far better than they've ever received. remember the cheap birds plea!
