Yes, as everyone said, don't worry that he is just a little older. You should tame him the same way, just spend a lot of time with him. Be patient and don't pressure him. Don't chase him around the cage holding food in your hand. I think taming is much quicker if you hold the food further away and let him gradually decide to come to you. Now that he knows what millet is, take it out of his cage, and just use it as a treat when your hand is in the cage Goodluck with the training, the more time you spend with him, the faster he will be tame Try not to be tempted to let him out of his cage until he'll hop onto your finger (or at least a "training perch") happily, otherwise getting him back in the cage can be quite traumatic for him, and he is likely to try to escape again next time you open the cage, ignoring your hand. It's all worth it in the end. You'll do great
  7. That's an interesting looking perch, and Blinkie seems to have gotten over it quite quickly I like it
  8. Awesome pictures! It would take me forever to get a set of pictures like that. Some of those are the clearest flight pictures I've ever seen! The 2nd and 6th ones are my favourites. I love the 6th where you can see the feathers so clearly from the side... Wow. Congratulations on taking them

  10. Those are great pictures I love all the flying pics

They both look like girls to me
  12. I love budgie baths! Apple and Munch are really cute as always. I wish we could give our birds run of the house, but we have a cat, so they have to stay in our study. I'd love to have a bird come and find me from another room

Great looking lizard cage Una. We did try a staple gun karen (borrowed from someone), but it didn't work well, the nails worked much better for us. It probably depends on the type of wood... and the staple gun I guess
  15. Wow, I'd love to be able to have that many budgies You've chosen some great colours there! Enjoy naming them (I'm terrible at naming, it takes me forever )
  16. Thanks guys! They do seem to like it Quin uses it more than Eucy because it was in the room with her while Eucy was in Quarantine (and Eucy is still a bit more timid in general).
  17. They're all so cute! I think Blondie is my favourite of the Bubs, but Blinkie's still number 1 (and obviously knows it :(Laughing out loud)
  18. Thanks for the replies They've been doing well together (both living in Quin's cage now, but getting a lot of flying time). Eucy is still timid, and Quin can be a little timid at times too, but they always return to their cage between flying around without us having to do anything. As long as they're tame enough to be allowed out, we're happy They will get less timid in time, as they get more used to the room, and us At the moment, they're happy to sit on our hands when we have yummy fresh food, and will sit on our heads/shoulders and play with hair/earrings etc occasionally. We'll send in some more pics of them (out of the cage) soon
  19. He's a lovely colour He does look cobabt-y now that you mention it Rainbow
  20. I've recommended this site somewhere else, but I'll recommend it again :hap: I found it very helpful : NAN & FLOCK'S HOME PAGE I think the two best parts of the site are Educational budgie pictures and Nan's No-Tech Genetics Each of these sections has multiple pages, click to continue at the bottom of the pages.
  21. Well, she's definately a dominant pied, but I was wondering specifically about whether she was a double factor because she seems to have no wing markings.

    Cool photo :hap:
  23. Just so you are sure that the budgies are comfortable, why not use plexiglass walls with a wooden bottom. I think the screws might be a better idea than the glue too. As for the clear plexiglass, I have seen clear nest box walls at the Royal Adelaide Show, but they might have been just for display purposes, so people could see the chicks without opening the box all the time.
  24. Yep, I agree with the others Could the green and yellow hen be a double factor dominant pied?
  25. Welcome to the forum! I agree with Lovey too, and she's a beautiful bird. It's nice to hear that you evened her wings up
