Here are some photo's of our vacation. We first stopped at Virginia Beach, VA and then stayed the week at Mrytle Beach, South Carolina and then came back and took a ferry that hold's cars which was cool to Williamsburg, VA but we didn't stay and tour because we didn't have time. The kids had a great time, it was about 102F everyday, we beach bummed most of the time. We did go to Ripley's Believe it or Not Aquarium, the Alligator Adventure, and a few I-Max 3-d Theatre Shows. My daughter loves to take pictures she is 7y so she was in charge of my old digital camera she did very well and got shots I didn't get. Huskies looks wolfish like but to know a husky is to know that they don't have a mean bone in their body, it is well known that they are not used for protection and you could steal the whole house with them lol it is written in every profile about huskies but they have the look especially the one with the blue eyes. .

I would give him more water to see if he will take a bath and leave it personally he will probably get it off himself, they are so delicate and pressing and trying to rub it off may end up being a bad experience for him.

We went on vacation last week for anyone who wondered where I was (lol) or saw I was missing. So I am going to download pictures as promised. Anyways, as I am doing so I have others too I wanted to share. Here is our 14y old siberan husky Niketa, enjoying the winter we just came out of. She loves to pull the kids around on their sled and has a harness made just for doing so, you can see the harness on her.

Hugs, my MIL had a busted hernia and just went in for surgery so I understand. They diagnosed her with a viral infection and sent her home from the ER can you believe it and called her back the next day thank goodness and said she had a busted hernia and get in NOW, as they were worried that the infection from it could cause her to loose 7 inches of her bowel, thank goodness she didn't and she is now in recovery. I hope all goes well. The urine is the white and the feces is the black/brown which I believe for others who didn't know that birds do both when they go to the bathroom.

It really depends what you want. You don't need to get another budgie just to cheer up another budgie you in reality are the companion and you must be ready for 2 if you want two. When you decide to add another budgie, you must remember strict quarantine which is 30 days in a different cage & different room to ensure your new budgie is healthy. Budgies can look healthy but carry underlying illness that can come out induced by stress. CLICK HERE TO READ Budgie Quarantine Program. Lastly, I always feel it is best to get the SAME sex if you don't plan on breeding. Unwanted unclutches CAN come from opposite sex residing together which many people don't want and then they have to deal with eggs, what to do with them, some hens then don't stop laying etc.... There are so many UNWANTED budgies out there that I would consider this factor which is VERY important. Many will tell you that if you have different sexes they won't breed unless you put a nesting box it, it is a 50% chance and being part of this forum for the last 3 years it is more likely that they will and you will have egg issues. My avian vet said once a budgie start laying getting them to stop is almost impossible and the stress that the hen goes through is not good on her body. These are my personal thoughts on everything . Rainbow, our ADMIN has all hens and they are a very happy family you may want to ask her opinion also.

but you know when they are going through that in between stage from pink to blue it looks similar to the hen picture you posted, I remember Merlin going through that....looking forward to more pics.

I learned it too in High School and also in college but everyone is different

I like to put it in simple terms because honestly most people don't get all the genetic wording and it just confuses them especially if they haven't had a basic genetic course

I am mixed on it because it does look round and bulbous like a male cere and males can have nasal rings also especially when they are going from the pink to the blue stage, more pics would be helpful in a week or so .

I have caught every bird in my aviary and put them in new temporary accomodations. We had the dogs in the aviary and they have dug to China but the rats or rat has gone further underground. I will set traps in there for the night. with that dog smell in there hopefully that will deter them, good luck Kaz. Anything is a nuisance if it is killing something that you love rats to cats to dogs to mice etc...

Doesn't that make it sex-linked recessive? Because if a gene can be split (ie. hidden) then it must be recessive, even if only on the male side. If it can't be split (like green) then it is dominant...though green isn't sex-linked. Yes in a way but it wasn't explained in the prior post about how hen's can not hide a sex-linked gene but they can hide a non linked sex-linked gene which needs to be explained because there are different outcomes between a sex-linked vs a non-sex linked

Albino is not recessive it is a sex-linked gene, if the hen is an albino and the male is split to albino you will get mixed males and females but if you have an ino in the clutch it would mean that the male is carrying the ino gene and it would be a female chick, hens can not be split to ino since they have to express sex-linked genes.

If you remove the box it would be better for both birds, I am going to move this to the breeding section since it is going in that direction.
