  7. throwback she is beautiful, isn't it amazing how their faces start to thin, I hope she keeps her mask, Niketa had a nice one just like that and started to loose it over time, Niketa loves to run through the rivers too but she is not much of a swimmer just a runner and she loves to run in circles in the water and dunk her head, during the summer we had a pool just for her , she will be blowing her coat soon that I don't look forward to.

  11. Kaz did, she still has one Steele is his name.
  12. microchipping is optional here but I think it needs to be done more often, the only thing is if you don't register their microchip then it is worthless, they will be running around soon surgeries never seem to get animals down like they do humans.
  13. ah....okay, need more coffee this morning, good question to ask the vet

  15. fingers crossed an answer is found
  16. yep, I agree a hen also now, as for Kaz's comment she is entirely correct .
  17. if she has it do you think she should be raising a clutch, would that not to be too stressful if she is already sick?
  18. well I am going to take a stab and say female and this is why, I remember a chick that Kaz showed me that had a really pink cere but it was flat and not smooth with the bulbous look around the nostrils and I swore it was a cock until she showed me the hen grown up and it was a female, but I could be wrong because it looks male to m at first glance.
  19. omg if we had cutest babu of the month he would be a shoo in he is a doll, i love his smiling eyes and you look great

absolutely stunning all of them are
  22. it is odd behavior and I think he was traumatized to be honest, I left Merlin left for 8 days and he was completely okay with our pet sitter and I instructed her not to let him out and put her hands in the cage since she is not bird knowledgable. Birds start to mature and molt at 4-6 months old if it was related to this behavior you would have seen it already because he should have molted at least 2x by now so I don't know if that could be it. If it is I suggest that you make sure his cage is covered at least for 14hrs a day with darkness for the next week that will throw them back into a non-hormonal stage, make sure you don't have his cage next to running water such as a fish tank etc... Are you seeing an Avian Vet? or a regular vet that does make a difference too as avian vets are much more knowledgable because this is their field.
  23. MB it sounds familar but it is so common to have the question come up more then 2x in a day or week that I don't always put it together and I am sure I said the same thing there too and I remember writing this 2x now.
  24. One thing to remember also is budgies will bounce back after a friend loss. I know this first hand as Pretty died suddenly a year ago and left Merlin to himself. I never got another budgie and here is what I observed. Merlin was very quiet the first couple months but ACTIVE, he sang, ate, drank took bathes and started to warm up to me. Budgies will be quiet, yes they will call but a budgie that looks depressed where they are inactive, not eating or drinking or responding to you may be a SICK budgie not a stressed budgie, they do move on and they don't sit depressed like humans to, we have to remember that we can not put human feeling on an animal. They do live in the now, they move on very quickly and many a times it is best to bond with your single budgie for a couple months and then decide. It has been a over a year now and Merlin is simply an awesome budgie, he is not over affectionate, but he loves to sit on my keyboard, my shoulder and preen my hair, he talks now and he is not lonely.
