  1. It really depends Pet Shops can be good and Breeders can be bad and vs versa, in the FAQ there is an excellent article written up about evaulating both. I think research and asking question is going to lead you to answering your own question.

Do you find this is when she is going through her molt? Birds molt every 3-4 months depending on if they are inside or outside aviary birds because of this they tend to become more moody.

Yes Do you enjoy watching scary movies?
  5. You have been given good advice, I just wanted to say welcome and he is a cutie
  6. a lot of time birds do eat without the owners seeing them, a healthy budgie will eat, ask your friend to lightly blow on the food and see if any empy husks fly away many times it looks like they didn't eat but they did, as for water it is rare to see a budgie drink water until they are comfortable with their enviroment.
  7. I am sorry for your loss but now she is gone you have to think about Kimy and have her checked out by the vet and make sure she is not sick like Ginny. Did the vet say what was wrong? I would wait to ensure Kimy is okay and I am not sure if piggies are like budgies but isn't there a quarantine period too for these type of pets? Anyways, again I am sorry, I hope the advice I give you helps.
  8. that is funny
  9. that is wonderful Kaz, as a group you have made a difference.
  10. It takes a while for new feathers to grow back in they usually will start coming back within 3-4 months, I know this just through experience with my birds being clipped. Why they keep breaking I am not sure I am sure somone will answer there for you better then I.
  11. That is a wonderful story Kaz, keep us updated if you keep in contact with her. You know we at one time didn't know what we were doing and at one point somone helped us out. If she is willing to listen and take suggestions as she seems she is per your post before you know it she will have a budgie haven at her place too. Knowledge is amazing and when people are open to it is incredible the changes that are done to improve the lives of others.

  20. cool idea Kaz, I am going with hen too but I am no expert with the young ones
  21. I agree she sounds very sick and you need to talk to our mom, when animals die of old age it is a heart attack, suddenly or stroke this sounds like a respiratory infection of some sort and she will need antibiotics to get well and on top of that your other piggie is at risk to catch what she has, they are very delicate just like budgies and need special avian care. I hope your mom listens and you get her to a vet before it is too late.l
  22. Thank you Neville...I forgot to add the Black Eyed Self (BES) is there a way you can tell the difference between this mutation and the ones above? Especially the DEC? Anyone want to do a simplified explanation of the Dominant Pied Variations vs the Recessive Pied?
  23. I think you have a very acrobatic budgie that is one nut short of a peanut , actually she sounds like a a lot of fun and you should enjoy her antics
