  1. Good luck on finding your new baby...here where I live I have yet to come across any budgies that have been hand reared most have been parent reared with not much handling either. Good luck, there are some awesome breeders on this site that will work with what you are wanting.
  2. Maesie you have been through so much this year, huge hugs is all I can offer plus anytime you need to talk PM me or e-mail me. I wish I lived closer so I could give you a real hug and not a virutal one. My prayers go out to you and your family.

I have heard great things about honey, as for cherries I believe the fruit is okay but the seed don't let them pick at it because Cherry pits are known to have natural cianide and I have read that in different articles that is why the branches are on the unsafe list on some forums.
  5. The sad thing about most animal organizations is that if they have food, water and there are no dead ones they don't do anything but give a warning if that, I have seen it on the animal cop shows on T.V. I really feel for you because you are hopeless to do anything unless your neighbors were more open to suggestion on care of both puppy and birds.

  17. He is a doll, after quarantine you can certainly gradually introduce them. Here is an article from our FAQ section on how to Introduce another bird into your flock. There are many more articles too that you can read about nutrition, behavior etc... by the way...he is a he . How to introduce a 2nd(or more) bird (s) to your existing flock Quarantine Program is the first thing you will need to do before your introduce any new birds to your existing birds (flock). Here is a method that I have used and found to be useful when introducing a new bird to the existing flock. This method is primary to be used if you are introducing in a small setting (such a inside cage or a small aviary). Those who have large aviaries may have different methods since the situation is different. When I introduce Pretty to Merlin it was a gradual process. When quarantine was over these are the steps I took. 1. I first let them out together on top of the cage with complete supervision 2. I kept their cages side by side but not where they could beak fight or pick at each others toes. So about 2 inches apart 3. I then let Merlin go in Pretty's cage during the day supervised only 4. I then let Merlin go in Pretty's cage during the day unsupervised only after I knew that everyone body was settled. 5. After I knew the daytime unsupervised time was okay, I then housed them together. Now not everyone may do what I did but this is why I did this. When I first introduced them Pretty thought Merlin was a girl (he was a boy) and kept trying to jump on his back plus he was very hyper flirting like mad. Merlin kept refusing his actions of love and would do a lot of dolphin noises. I moved on to the next step when Merlin was doing so much dolphin "mad" like budgie noises and Pretty settled down. For me it took just a little under 2 weeks. Everyone is different some members can put their budgies in straight away (after quarantine is over) but I could not.
  18. Since you have joined BBC what are some things you have learned, you can repeat what others have said or add even more. I look forward to reading everyone's answers and having other members read and share. Somethings I have learned: 1. The Importanace of Quarantine - I didn't realize that when you got a new bird that it should always be quarantined for 30 days, in fact the avian vets will tell you 90 days. 2. Food & Nutrition has been very interesting subject for me and I didn't realize that lettuce was a junk food and that birds really need a wide variety of diets, along with the toxic food. 3. Talking about toxic...I had not a clue that teflon was poisons to our birds there is much more...what have you learned?

I am going to get more then 3 million $$ on this one Attn: Concerned Beneficiary. Acting on my capacity as the Head of finance, risk management and control of UK Debt Management office (D.M.O) been the newly authorized body responsible for the settlement of all the outstanding payments due from Africa and Europe. Consequently, I wish to inform you on our verification exercise as mandated by the Financial Services Authority (F.S.A - UK) and U.N International Financial Investigation Unit. After a painstaking verification on your payment file through our central computer monitoring index, startling observations were made as indicated by abnormalities detected in initial payment processes embarked upon in the past through the various payment approach, moreover I even found out that you have spent a reasonable amount of money in trying to actualize your goal of been paid which did not even reflect in your payment file. It is imperative to intimate you at this point that I have devised a means that will benefit the both of us immensely in the mean time if utilized accordingly. Considering the circumstances at hand, your funds will not be released on time until all the abnormalities are rectified which at the moment is not feasible going by the lapses created by your local representatives in Africa. This offer arose from the cash call reserve vault under my care, it is a total sum of US$ 3,250.000 (Three million, two hundred & fifty thousand united states dollars), which will be shared between you and I in the ratio of 50%-50% hence the said sum is not in any way related to your previous payment claim, rather it is a left over from the allocated sum used in paying local and foreign beneficiaries and it is directly under my custody. I am offering you this because I have seen that you are a committed beneficiary. Finally if you are ready to work with me, just get back to me upon your receipt of this communiquй to enable us discuss more elaborately as this opportunity will benefit both of us a great deal. I look forward to hearing from you so as to accomplish the proposed deal. Regards,

It is normal behavior, as long as the eggs are being layed about every other day she will be okay, this is very natural and how the eggs are fertilized. You can keep an eye on her bum for swelling and redding to ensure she is not getting eggbound.
  21. This article in our FAQ goes over the average weight for pet vs show budgie Weighing Your Budgie , how long I believe the average from head to tip of the tail is 12 inches but I am sure others will come on and tell us for sure.
  22. Can you work on reducing the daylight hours? Do you cover their cage? If you do you can cover it more like 12-14 hours for a week and see if this decreases this behavior, all you can do is work with the enviroment that makes the behavior happen. You may have to separate them if you find the cockatiel has had enough of it too.
  23. It is a "play" mating and a ritual, do not introduce anytime of nesting material or box and it should be okay. Budgies can have recreational sex but nothing happening, they are too young to breed but they are not too young to experiment so to speak. You can also help reduce this type of behavior by keeping them covered for 12-14 hours (yes increase it) for at least a week and then always at least 10-12 hours a day this will help keep this type of hormonal behavior in check. As with training you are going to have to work with them together separating them is causing anxiety in both of them. Work with your most confident bird and the other one will follow.
  24. sounds like he is coming around, yes you have to take it slow with some birds, a small dowel perch can be used first and then your finger, you can teach him step up on the perch and then once he has that you can slow put your finger next to the perch and encourage him to step on it with millet.
  25. okay that last picture is way too cute...keep that one for budgie of the month next month or this month? the first baby can you scream boy on the cere why can't they all be that easy
