Posted April 8, 200817 yr I have been surfing the net and it mentions that a RAINBOW budgie is a budgie wit 3 colours is this correct???
April 8, 200817 yr I was searching rainbow budgies today too ****weird psychic stuff happening heheheh**** They are so pretty - I found that they are technically a blue (any blue to violet) golden face Opaline. Here is a Link Edited April 8, 200817 yr by **Liv**
April 8, 200817 yr "Rainbows" are a composite variety encompassing mixtures of yellowface or goldenface blue cinnamon opaline and clearwings. But you could try mixing in other varieties like pieds as well and see what happens. Edited April 8, 200817 yr by DrNat
April 8, 200817 yr There are pictures of rainbow budgies in our mutation section where all the pictures are, Rainbow the board ADMIN had one.
April 8, 200817 yr I have pieds, goldenface and goldenface greywings in my breeding colony, how cool would it be if I got one like that!!
April 8, 200817 yr (Laughing out loud) that bird is so cute however it does look like someone threw up paint on him!
April 8, 200817 yr I think Splash might be an appropriate name for that one! Does seem to fit the broad description of rainbow with that darker patch over the neck.
April 8, 200817 yr Here is Anne (rainbow)' Rainbow Name: Rainbow Sex: Male Color: Mauve Other Mutations: Clearflight, Dilute, Opaline, Type 2 Goldenface Here is the direct link http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....c=18989&hl=
April 8, 200817 yr Budgie Smuggler's new addition to his flock looks like a rainbow to me This bird isn't a true Rainbow as it's missing the Clearwing gene...YF2 Opaline Spangles can also look a lot like Rainbows, but aren't the true Rainbow which is YF2 Blue Opaline Clearwing.

April 9, 200817 yr It must be said that RAINBOW budgie is an adopted name to describe a bird that has so many genetic mutations in it at the end that it would be a Pain in the *** to try and type it all down as it is !! Edited April 9, 200817 yr by KAZ
