You could have chicks die from other things but I don't think many would be caused by being trampled. With large clutch's by time last egg is hatched the oldest could be 16-18 days old. I have had 9 chick clutch with no problems. Link to comment

It seems to always be under one of the big ones. I use wood shavings for the bedding, but there's not much in there at the moment as mum always kicks it out. Just make sure it has been fed within 24 hrs of hatching. if not it might need a feeding kick start. Link to comment
