l wasn't exactly sure where to post this but l figured l could post it here, since l noticed that people with aviaries experience these problems from time to time.

l was searching the net and l came across some useful tips on how to get rid of them, with out using poisons on them. l'm not sure if it works, l haven't had any trouble with pests yet :hap:

To kill rodents and small bugs (roaches etc.) put out jar lids of coke or pepsi at night, they drink it and can't pass gas so their stomach explodes and you just sweep them up. My grandfather used this in his dairy barn for mice and rats during the summer when the barn cats couldn't keep up with the population. I've also seen it used in restaurants in the southwest where it doesn't freeze hard enough to kill roaches, that way they don't have to use poison.
Get Rid of Ants

Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it

'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so,

especially if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about

pets or small children being harmed!

l realize that the folks from Australia do not have easy access to corn meal but l wonder if you would be able to use some polenta instead?

I will try that as I currently have a mouse in my makeshift breeding room.

Good ideas... I have just gotten rid of some mice, but I trapped them. I've also had issues with ants and I concreted my aviary>>> no more ants. I've also used polenta which has sort of worked.
