Posted January 14, 200718 yr Hi all, I recently got a baby albino budgie from a breeder. She said she would only bring the males. The budgie I got off her is about 11 weeks old now and its cere is pinkish purple. Have i been sold a female or is the sexing different with albinos? Any help is greatly appreciated! Sam
January 14, 200718 yr Sexing is the same with albinos when they are young. If the cere stays pinky-purple, you have a male. If you have a hen, the cere will turn brown as normal. If you can post a good clear picture of the cere, we can help you determine the sex.
January 14, 200718 yr a picture if you have 1 would let without a flash of the cere because a flash washs it out and makes them look more female.

January 17, 200718 yr I would say girl. It is a little too purple to be a boy. Although, it's a fine line. Yeah. It's a girl. It has white around the nostrils.
January 17, 200718 yr I would lean to a boy as well, simply becuase of the evenness of the pink colour. Although its hard to tell with a blurry picture. Sailor I don't see any white.
January 18, 200718 yr Author Thanks for your help! I thought if the cere was blue then it was a boy and if it was purple or brown it was a girl! Thanks again. Sam xxx
January 18, 200718 yr Albino's like recessive pieds and DEC the male cere does not change it will remain a nice bright pink they don't follow the rule of the blue cere on males. The hen's the ceres are normal and will go to brown in these mutations.
