Hi there, What an awesome photo
  4. ahhh I see it all so clearly now haha, thank you so so much for finding that photo for me my little one is ten days old tomorrow so I will not have to wait too much longer to find out.
  5. oh no haha :bliss: thank you anyway it's amazing what you can make yourself see I was positive I could see a two little rows of yellow pins above the cere in your photo on the oldest chicky.. I even showed the hubby haha ... lucky he knows even less than I do but I will keep fingers crossed anyway and just have to wait till the pins start showing.
  6. Thanks Kaz the photo was very helpful also, I have 5 babies in a nest with the 6th (and final one) due tomorrow. I was looking at the eldest one today and he had that grey/blue tinge to his wings and head but as in your photo those babies also have that colouring and are still yellowface so I will still be keeping fingers crossed for lots of them to be yellowfaces. The father of my lot is a violet opaline and the mother is a yf opaline but she is a green colour with blue under her wings I have posted about the pair before for their mutations and offspring percentages thanks again.
  7. Just wondering if there is a way to tell if a baby with down will be a yellowface or do you have to wait until the head feathers start to show? Thank you
  8. WOW those two are stunners Kaz hope you get lots of lovely babes with that amount of eggs
  9. WOW Daryl your spangles are just stunning you must be very pleased with them.
  10. it is so much fun I just love seeing the little ones here are some photos of the babies
  11. Hi All, Just wanted to start this off to tell you how my budgies are going, so far off to a good start I had 5 beautiful babies born to my violet opaline and normal cobalt pair which fledged a few weeks ago and now I have another two new born babies from a violet male and yellowface female which I am very excited about so hoping I will get some yellowfaces out of this nest :ohmygod: . I have finally seperated 4 pairs into their own breeding cages last week and it was amazing to see how different they are in their own spaces instead of the aviary with so much distraction going on in there they are all having way to much fun to want to sit still and lay eggs and now they are happy with no other influences they are starting to go through the breeding motions :camera: so hope they all keep it up with good results.
  12. Thank you very much for those replies they sound like great books and just what I am looking for :rip:
  13. Congrats on your new additions, they are so beautiful I especially love the photo of the first baby.
  14. thank you Neville, also to gb for that great explanation makes it all a little clearer now
  15. didn't know that dom pieds were not born with iris rings thought I had that one down and could tell between dom and rec obviously will be harder with the littler ones if they don't have the iris ring from birth...... bugger
  16. Just wanting some opinions on which budgie reference books people use, I have a few but they are really old and I was wanting to get an up to date one .
  17. number 6 does not have iris rings which I think is something dominants have, it does look like a dom in the photo with the head patch going on but has full black eyes the other two yellow ones do have the iris rings though
  18. thanks kaz they were not very close pics and their head spots are not a nice roundish spot it blends into the rest of the body thats why I was leaning towards recessive but then I found the picture with the iris ring
  19. Thanks so much Kaz and I am very happy that I finally seem to be getting the grasp on some different varities Kaz just wondering if this is an iris ring? it is from one of the pieds
