With the veggies just keep putting them in... Maybe hide the seed under them to make the bird forage through to get fed. As for trill, never used or read the ingredients so can't say either way...

Thanks, yeah he looks a good bird. He's a 2010 bird but hopefully he'll have another round in him...
  4. JimmyBanks posted a post in a topic in Bringing Home A New Budgie
So Today I went out and bought a new budgie... We're gonna call him "Old Mate" for now but his real name is BCV 3789 (2010).
  5. Yeah, it is a shame none of them work properly anymore...
  6. So, Gerald Binks has retired and is selling his stud. Pity we can't import any.

You might also be interested in this thread too drifter: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=28320 Great nest box design as well as breeding cabinets. Might see if there is a market there for your man shed mates.
  9. As long as it isn't the suppository of all wisdom lol

Hey Drogo! Sorry to hear you got rid of them. Hopefully you'll see the light again and get back into the Budgie Show world soon.
  11. You could foster out the egg if you wanted... It shouldn't be to much trouble. Are your hens experienced or is it their 1st time?

Welcome back hath!! glad you found it back to this place. It is sad to see the oldies all gone but I'm glad you popped in! I watched an episode on the BBC about Budgerigars getting stolen and the like a couple of weeks ago. I think it was produced sometime this year. Seems' like it's starting to be a bit of a common problem over in the UK! Very Sad. Feel free to pop in and give us all any advice you want! After 20+ years breeding I'm sure you've got a few pearls of wisdom to share!

I'd be taking the next bird that dies to the Vet ASAP. If you've lost 26 birds in a year because of an unknown illness you're better off going to an expert. Have you been quarantining your new birds when they come in?
  15. JimmyBanks replied to RarityBird's post in a topic in Breeding Tips
Hope it all turns out alright. Look forward to hearing about the breeding when you pair them back up.
  16. There you go. He's a well respected commentator on Genetics so if he's saying it, I'd be listening.
  17. I'm assuming that they are in breeding condition prior to you putting them into the cages/cabinets. I know some people add the hen first for up to a week and then add the cock bird. If you've got a picture of your cage someone might be able to give you a heads up with the cage layout.

G'DAy welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place. We love to chat budgies here. Cheers, have a read of the forums and feel free to comment as much as you like. Cheers.
  19. Sounds very similar to this instance - http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=26267 I've also seen pictures on here with what I think you are talking about, just can't find them at the moment.
  20. Not great with Genetics but I know some people say that a DF budgerigar will be slightly "More violet" than SF budgies. I have no idea if that's just a wives tale though or if its a fact.
  21. I've never heard of it but It's probably just a first time thing, maybe put him with an experienced hen as well so he can get the hang of it...
  22. Sorry to hear about that.
  23. It would be great if you could show us some pictures of the birds Ceres to see what exactly you're seeing. Also, I think you may have accidentally put this in the wrong section not sure this falls under the "Forum Additions, help, Errors & Support" LOL. All good though, hopefully someone can tell you what is wrong with your birds, if anything. As for antibiotics in water, one reason why some people don't like them is also because it's very hard to see how much water a budgie drinks so it's hard to figure out how much antibiotics they have had. And finally, Welcome to the forum! Edit by Finnie: Yes, this did not belong in "Forum Additions, Errors & Support", so I have merged it with the other thread on the same subject. Sorry for any confusion this causes. The two threads seem to blend nicely, though. Cheers, Finnie
