Posted August 24, 200420 yr i'm thinking of adding a heater and light to my out door aviary. i have no electric to my aviary and i can't add it. so i need a rechargeable light to last 10 hours +,some kind of safe heater for the budgies. does any one have a name of a shop or website to buy this items. (u.k only) or makes of a light or heater that you have. i'm not sure if the light might keep the budgies a wake all night, i don't want that. rgds. james.
August 24, 200420 yr i know of no heaters to use without electric that would be cost efficient you can buy small heaters to heat tents ect but would cost a fortune to use
August 24, 200420 yr Author i did think the heater might cost a lot. i'll leave the heater then. do you think the budgies will sleep still with a bit of light. i don't wont them flying about at 2am. i have had a problem with a cat, which scares them at night, and i'm out in the pitch black trying to get them back on there perches. thanks for your help. rgds. james.
August 24, 200420 yr i have a baby night light in my aviary with a light sensor but once again you need electric if you can find a light which suits you spray paint over the lense to cut out some of the light. to check you have enough light and not to much when it is dark turn on the night lights after 5 sec you should just be able to see the perches any more light and you could have to much activity
August 25, 200420 yr not too sure on these but will they do ? http://maplin.co.uk/search/menulevels.asp?...ct=&Name=Garden Lighting&Recs=&PrevMenu=93&PrevName=Lighting and Torches&LevelList= Edited August 25, 200420 yr by Bhups
June 29, 200519 yr I have in my aviary a solar charged lantern. I bought 2 at home depot for $40 U.S. I change them over each day so they are fully charged for night. It puts off a full moon type glow. As for the heater, I have no clue on that. Good luck with your hunt! Anna
June 30, 200519 yr Author Aug 04,is when i first asked the question. I was still looking, solar lantern looks good. How long does one lantern last in hours. thanks. Do your birds sleep okay at night. Edited June 30, 200519 yr by james2701
June 30, 200519 yr Hi I put it in around 730 at night, and its off by morning. The box says 12 hours, but I would say it lasts until about 430 am. It works for me, the sun is not up yet, but its starting to get light. I figure as long as it is on at around 2 am, it works! Do you have any updates for your aviary? I've only been on this site for about 1 month. So you'll have to keep me posted! Anna
