Posted May 3, 200619 yr I am looking for a new cage. I found this cage on Ebay, and it's exactly the same one I saw in a shop for a price that I don't even want to mention here, it's just ridiculously expensive in the shop. The bar space is about 1cm if my memory serves me right. an opinion would be great. I'm only intending on putting a max of three budgies in the top half. the bottom half will be used as my cockatoo's night/sleeping cage. Any thoughts on it?? Cheers http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi..._PCN_BIX_Stores
May 3, 200619 yr gorgeous cage I love the double decker, I don't know price wise AU to US money, so will wait and see what others think.
May 3, 200619 yr Author I think it'll give me back some space in the room with the double decker cage!! (Laughing out loud).. From what I've seen, that's a very reasonable price for that particular cage here in Australia. There are so many cages out there that I see in all the US website and I want to get them, but the postage will just overkill it a bit I think... hehe. :fear
May 3, 200619 yr I did a search for double decker here is what I found on ebay you might have already seen them, some might just be US http://search.ebay.com/double-bird-cages_W...PageNameZRC0022
May 3, 200619 yr Author Thanks, and yeah I had a look at the US ebay before, but most of the ones that I want only ship to US, or otherwise the freight are like HUMUNGOUSLY EXPENSIVE!! There are hardly any cages that are worth looking at in the Australian Ebay. The birds world here in Australia is nothing in comparison to those in the US, we're missing out a lot of good deals on cages and toys and stuff. :fear
May 3, 200619 yr err...well at least you can sort of price compare huh? Good luck!! I know you will find what you want, I really like that double decker.
May 4, 200619 yr Why doesnt your too sleep in their daytime cage? Its a decent price for the size of cage it is i just dont like the doubble decker idea, one bird on the bottom and all, Shouldnt they be eyelevel?
May 4, 200619 yr Author Why doesnt your too sleep in their daytime cage? Its a decent price for the size of cage it is i just dont like the doubble decker idea, one bird on the bottom and all, Shouldnt they be eyelevel? he's main cage is in the main living area, and I've got three cats that stays indoor. My cockatoo wouldn't get a good decent amount of sleep straight through the night. As I said, I'm only going to use the bottom cage as a night cage for my cockatoo so he'll only be in there during the night time when he's sleeping, so I wouldn't think it was a problem with that. The top cage will be used as budgie cage for three of my indoor budgies. Oh, this cage will be located in a spare room, and the cats don't have access to it at night.
May 5, 200619 yr why dont you just wheel your toos cage in the spare room at night? or keep it in there? im just trying to say why pay the extra for the bottom half if you dont really need it? What are you doing with your too at night now?
May 5, 200619 yr Author My cockatoo currently has a night cage in the room, but it's an old ones and the bars are coming apart and he's actively destoying it!! The day cage he's in is way way way too big to wheel into the hall way (my hall way being about roughly 1m wide, and the cage definitely will not fit through the door frame to the bird room. His day cage overall dimension is 140cmWx 110cmDx 180cmH.. Click to see Apollo's day cage. This picture was taken straight after we've finished assembling it, hence the empty cage with only two bits of toys i didn't want to keep the cockatoo cage in there as he uses the top as a play area fairly often, and when he's out, i can't let the budgies out to play since the cockatoo will do all he can to get to 'kill' the budgies. he hates the budgies. I let my budgies out in the room to fly around while having the door shut so the cats can't get to them. i let the budgie out all day sometimes as well when i'm not home, and to have to cockatoo cage in there would mean trouble. i wouldn't want anything bad to happen to my budgies. i can see your point of view, but either way, whether i get this one or not, i'll still need to get a new night cage for my cockatoo before he make a big enough hole in his cage to make an escape during the night. thank you though for your thoughts and advice.
