Posted May 3, 200619 yr i am really unsure of how to tell the age of my birds, my breeder tells me that my females are 10mths and i'm not sure of males. None of mine have rings, so is there any real way to tell the age of a bird? They are about normal size i guess but will this help?
May 3, 200619 yr No Not really, After there 1st or 2nd moult it is difficult unless they are 3 to 4 years old. Can you post some photos?
May 3, 200619 yr As daz said there isn't a way to tell, the colour of leg bands can give you a year of date. The breeder SHOULD know the ages correctly if a good breeder and if they state 10 months then it's a good bet it's right. If they don't have rings in the eye it's becuase of two things, one their mutations does get them (recessive pieds, DEC umm is there more?) or they are young. Oh just read your post again and see they don't have rings, but the info might help a lurker out there.
