May 2, 200619 yr Ros out your way mate they breed in the spring but you can breed them through Winter and Summer. So long as they have food water and a safe place to lay the eggs. Here is Brisbane we started to breed them about a month ago. But this Breeding Season is dictaded by the Show Bench Are you colony breeding (Nest boxes hung in an Aviary)?. How old are the birds? May 2, 200619 yr Wow your a long way out in emerld Is it nice out there? As daz said you can breed at any time just be sure to remember to give them a 6 months break after every second clutch. I myself, since i have no Show bench to worry about ( :fear ) like to breed them in the spring time and autumn. I'll look forward to hear your answer to Daz's questions.

The birds are bout 10mths for females and not sure on males i was given them as a present from my mum. the boxes are sitting on a shelf that my husband put in for that purpose it also serves as a very handy place to put the fresh friut and veg so they dont just throw it on the floor. The local breeder i purchased them from told me that the females are breeding age is that right? Wow your a long way out in emerld :ausb: Is it nice out there? May 3, 200619 yr If you where told the hens where of breeding age that makes them 12 months plus. Good breeders know the age of their birds. I would remove the boxes for now and wait until the males are over a year. Some state that you can breed with males from 10 months. I tried it and my male just didn't understand what the deal was, about three months later he got the picture. Waiting a while will give ou time to learn what is normal for this flock so if something is different while breeding you can get help faster and give the males and femals time to bond together and find partners. Since you are colony breeding. If I remember correctly I was told to let my 10 month male have only one clutch.
