Megabacteria And Oranges

Featured Replies

:) Hello. Last month the vet diagnosed our budgie with megabacteria. He gave us Fungalin to be put in the water for three weeks. The three weeks ended on the weekend. Foobles looked quite good, chirpy etc and his old self. Last night he seemed dozy, coughed up the white goo and started 'faking' eating his seeds again. The vet told me to keep an eye out for the signs returning so I put him back on Fungain today. I remembered reading on the forum a while ago that oranges were meant to help fight megabac but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone remember this? I'm worried now. The forum members are always so helpful that I wanted to ask. Any help would be appreciated. ;)

Thank you.

This may not be a cure but I was lead to believe that Apple Cider Vinagur (1 Teaspoon in a litre of water) can help keep AYD (Avian Yeast Desease) away.

:ausb: Thanks for your help everyone. I knew I could count on the forum coming up with a suggestion or two. I'll try the cider vingegar preventative after the Fungalin runs out. I guess oranges might work after all then, seeing as they're acidic too. But unless I come across confirmation I'm not keen to try it on the little guy. :D
