Winkie just won't hang out with the other budgies in the aviary. He is always as far away as possible from them, usually hanging on the wire. I feel so sorry for the poor little mite. I've never seen any bullying - just the usual budgie squabbles. Anyone else had this happen?

Yes, my creamino boy Boss was like this for the longest time....and probably still is. A square peg in a round hole. He was the one hanging upside down from the perch one night like a bat. An unusual boy. But now someone loves him and he is happy. Still he doesn't socialise well with other birds. It's just one on one with his chosen lady love and not a boy for chin wagging with the lads on the street corner

I'm tempted to bring him inside, or try him out with the tiels, or something. It seems so very sad to be so isolated. All the budgies I have put in after him have socialised really well, and he came from a large aviary. Poor little mite.

I am sure he will find a friend but you know whats best for your birds. It's by caring and observing like we do that creates solutions. Please check under his chest feathers first for a "superman" logo ....he may just be a mild mannered little fellow by day and superhero by night.

Piper was like that for a very long time. She had one bad experience with Paris and then was terrified of them for the longest. It took some time but she eventually warmed up and found her bravery. (Odd to see Piper scared of anything to begin with!) I'm sure Winkie will befriend someone too. Just keep an eye out for bullying and maybe share some tips for starting conversation with him. :(Laughing out loud):
