Just a quick questions about budgie hormones - do females in condition cause males to come into condition, or vice versa. Or does it matter? Is it just a seasonal thing? Just curious because Wylie tried to mount Daff yesterday, and she is not in condition (at least has no brown cere) and he is very young.

Some boy budgies will try to mate anything that stands still! (See Budgiebirds video of her birds and her rope perch!). As far as I know, a nesting box will get a female usually force a female into condition.
