Avaries & Quaranteen

I know when you get a new bird, you must quaranteen for at least 30 days prior to joining your other birds. If you have a large avairy and are contstantly getting new birds to fill it, (when starting out) what would be the best method of quaranteening the new birds? Those of you who do have large avairies and are constantly buying new birds, what is your quranteen methods???

I personally quarantine in my house. I use small cages, as that is all I usually have left, and quarantine in my room, or my ensuite(sometimes I go a bit **** and space can be a problem ). This way, they are constantly under my supervision, and I can see any problems they might have. I sometimes pop a date on the cage, more often I check when I posted pics of my new arrival on this forum  , that way I know when quarantine for a particular cage ends. I then scrub the cage out ready for the new arrivals to come.

When introducing to the aviary, I pop the new one in, cage and all. 24 hours later, if the others are interested, but not aggressive, I open the cage, and leave it there for another 24 hours - somewhere for the new arrival to feel safe if it gets too much for them.

I'm using my old cage as a Quarantine cage which is going to be inside the house. I'm hoping to get my new birds in pairs or more rather than one at a time.

:) *Sigh... Im not lucky enough to get new budgies since im so remote but i do have heaps of spare smaller cages JUST INCASE  and id do what Lin has said she does..

Yep, i quarantine in the house in smaller cages. :(

I have a quarantine cage that is separated from the main aviary.

The main aviary is in the back yard and the quarantine cage is under the pergola. some 15 meters away.

I also quarentine in smaller cages at the other end of my patio. :(
