I know, I can't believe that the oldest went from 2g's to 14 in only 8 days. He/she is sitting up and trying to preen his wings that are not even feathered yet! (Laughing out loud)

The oldest looks to have yellow feathers coming in on his wings. What do you think the blue tint under his skin means? Is it because he is going to be dark green maybe? Although I suppose it is possible for them to have a blue baby, he has yellow wing feathers and I have never seen a blue budgie with yellow wing feathers before. Has anyone else?

do you have a picture of the parent?

They are so sweet it is amazing how fast they grow.

Here is a few pics of the second set of parents (Tweety and Blue) they are the proud parents of 2 tiny chics.

Wonder what color the babes will be....

They will all be blues, any opalines like the dad will be females because it is a sex linked gene. Blue is recessive so you will not get any green chicks, depending on the dark factors you will have cobalts maybe mauves? And then there are other hiddens genes that if both the parents carry them can show up too. :).

If you want exacts you can take the pictures of the parents & the babies and post in mutations we have some awesome members that are great with determining colors quicker then I can by looking at them.

Thanks, I will do that.

Blue is Cobalt so he has one dark factor. Tweety is Mauve so she has 2 dark factors. I do not know how these are passed onto offspring though.

50% cobalts and 50% mauve

that would be the chances :)

Thanks, with them having dark factors there are probably no chances for them having sky blues or dilutes would there?

dilutes is a gene that lessen's the strength of colour the bird is doesn't have anything to do what dark factors.

Mum will give one dark factor to all her babies, making cobalt the lightest blue you can get with that pair.

You asked about about a blur bird with yellow wings, it can happen they are called yellowfaces. This acts like the blue gene (recessive to green) but doesn't remove all of the yellow from the bird. But if both birds are green it's more likely he is a green bird.

Thanks, I kinds figured they would be some shade of yellow/green. He is just so dark under his skin and his feet have a bluish cast to them.

he possible could have a dark factor too? Depending on how dark his parents are there are different shades of greens :fear Keep us updated on the pics.

it is just so amaizing that they can grow so big in such little time. they are beautiful!

Here is a picture of the oldest babe today. He has definetly going to have yellow wings! The whole time that we hold him he peeps and tries to run away. He is not a people birdie.

Thank you, Every day I look at them and they are different! It's crazy! The oldest babe is 10 days old today and he weighs 20gs! Big boy!

By The Way I just call him a him because it is easier. I do not really know what he is yet. :D

we all do that with the chicks :D

He is looking great, handle him about twice a day every day and he should settle nicly into being handled.

Thank you Nerwen, I actually have them out of the nest about 3 times a day. They make such a mess on their "diaper" that it has to be changed that many times in a day. (okay - so it does not HAVE to be changed - I just prefer it that way (Laughing out loud)) In the morning they have weigh in and my daughter and I cant stand to put them back without a little snug. The middle 2 cozy up in your palm and go right to sleep, the oldest and the youngest have attitudes. (Laughing out loud)

Here is a picture of this mornings babes...growing like weeds...

Nanny and Daisy's group, just look at all those feathers starting to come in....

Dad's dominent pied and mom is recessive. Yes, I will most likely keep them. My husband is not to keen on the idea but he will get over it (Laughing out loud).

Thank you, I am so proud of my birdies for giving me such beautiful babies that I cant stand to not share them with everyone!

so that is a pied spot on that one baby, watch the other ones too in fact I would assume they may all have that pied spot..I know I would keep them too - what an awesome opportunity to work with them, tame them and love them from the beginning to the end :fear. Keep the pictures coming.

The second babe already has the spot on the top his head....will do with the pics...thank god for digitial cameras (Laughing out loud)
