April 28, 200619 yr my cats aren't too bad when it comes to the birds but i would never want my birds to be out of the cage around them...i even put the birds in a different room with door closed when i go out you can just never tell how a cat or even a dog is gonna react to a bird it's okay though since i have lots of time (being a stay at home mom) i let my birds out quite a bit, sometimes if the cats take a nap in the bathroom i will shut that door and let everyone out on for playtime, but it's easier for me to take the birds to a different room Sounds like you've got a system going that works well for you.
April 28, 200619 yr It's hard with different species, isn't it? My cats and dog don't get along, so I have to find time for all of them to have 'family' time with us, along with the birds
April 28, 200619 yr we have a pretty good system here, the cats sleep all day anyways so before 9AM they roam, and then they go upstairs to snooze I shut the doors for the morning and then around 12 noon Pretty goes back in and they come out but with our new baby Merlin, the cats have been upstairs longer but it will go back to normal once they can be together and quarantine is over. Plus they can roam the house and I can have the birds in my office out too, and since I have glass french doors entering the office everyone can see when I am in there and the birds are out. The cats favorite spot is to sit and watch them (Laughing out loud).
April 28, 200619 yr My cats try to get my birds through the window, when it's the bird times out, and when the dog is inside, the dog tries to get the cats outside the window
April 28, 200619 yr Author (Laughing out loud) yeah my cats do that with the birds outside too, i call it kitty tv :hap:
April 28, 200619 yr Oh that's a great name for it! We have been known to turn the telly off to watch the antics of the animals :hap: :hap:
