Posted April 26, 200619 yr MEET Merlin (just added his name after I posted this) Amazing what flash and no flash can do to the coloring of this bird. Enjoy!! He loves the window and will pace by it - I have it on video if I have time I will download it later What a big world...(with flash) Did I hear the world gorgeous, handsome (with flash) These pictures below are without flash and this is true to his real coloring. Oh the sun feels so good, it actually really calms him down to be in the sun odd huh with my other mommy - this is my daughter ADD this one...(watch this budgie love my daughter to pieces she spends so much time with him) Edited April 26, 200619 yr by lovey
April 26, 200619 yr Author She has inherited the love of all creatures big and small just like I. My son did until he was bit in the face by our neighbor's dog last year, unprovoked, left him with 70 stitches. It has changed my view about dogs a bit myself, even though I still love them. It is not that he doesn't appreciate or enjoy them but not love, I think the only thing he truly loves is his cat Maxx and our very old dog Brandy.
April 26, 200619 yr aw your wee birdie is gorgeous! thats a stunning picture of your daughter and the bird! does the bird have a name?
April 26, 200619 yr Author I have 2 names in mind that have been narrowed down, have to ask the hubby and the kids (mostly the hubby - hope he can help me decide)
April 26, 200619 yr That's such a shame about your son's experience. What kind of dog was it? Was it destroyed? Hopefully one day he'll find a lovely pooch that loves him enough to change his mind. So... what are the two names you're debating then? Edited April 26, 200619 yr by Janette
April 26, 200619 yr Author It was a wolf/shep mix, no the dog was not destroyed - Ohio law has to deem the dog dangerous but the owners have full liability on his injury etc.. He is still seeing the plastic surgeon for the scarring. His name is in the post..I changed the name of it I think...I just talked to my husband.
April 26, 200619 yr WHAT!!!!!! Who the *** would keep a dog with wolf in it any closer than about a zillion generations back near kids!?! In fact, why would anybody cross a dog with a wolf? Is it just me who thinks that's insane? Dogs are powerful animals; if people can't keep them responsibly, they shouldn't have them at all! Grrrrr... And as for "Ohio law has to deem the dog dangerous" I'd say 70 stitches on a kid is plenty dangerous!! Sorry Lovey, I feel quite strongly about responsible dog ownership, so I tend to go off on one a bit. I'm sorry for breaking in on your happy post about your adorable new boy. I think Merlin is a wonderful name. You'll have to get another few and call them Uther and Igraine, and Arthur and Guinevere (or Lancelot and Guinevere). Ooh, and a Nineve (said Ninnavver) and Vivienne (they're two of the ladies of the lake). Then you'll have to call your Aviary/cage Camelot! Yaaay! Am i getting a bit carried away? April 26, 200619 yr Author Janette, that is okay...I feel the way you do. I have had dogs since I was 15 and responsible for every single one of them, I can tell you I am still upset about the situation and angered. But there is nothing we can do to the dog period that is within legal limits. Since then the kids are NOT allowed over there. What kills me is that the mom had 3 kids under the age of 6, and she lives there (it is her parent's house), I would NOT let my 3 kids crawl around with that dog ever again. My son, and her daughter and my daughter were in the backyard, when it happened. My husband was in the front, so for anyone who says a dog as to be provoked the child must have done something assure me he didn't there were witnesses. I there is so much to tell but it would not be for the post.... Thank you, I am glad you like the name and I like your suggestion Edited April 26, 200619 yr by lovey
April 26, 200619 yr HES ADORABLE ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Look at that pair eh? They are both so sincere, and calm with eachother I love the 1st picture with her in it...how shes distracted, but still SO connnected with Merlin Kirby
April 26, 200619 yr Welcome MERLIN!! Your daughter is so cute and looks so sweet with him, bet he will become her "special buddy". So sad about Aaron and the dog bite, being young, hopefully he will forget it after time. (What was the other name?)
April 27, 200619 yr Ooh welcome to little Merlin, It's great to see him settled in so well and happy! Fantastic pics too
April 27, 200619 yr Author Thank you Riebe and everyone for the name suggestions...his middle name is Pikachu (my son HAD to have it somewhere in there)
April 27, 200619 yr Budgies with middle names........... , that creates a whole different set of problems. Oh well, Let's let him be known as Merlin with the middle name only known to Aaron.
April 27, 200619 yr Merlin is perfect. I have a Merlin too, but he is a skyblue recessive pied. Sorry to hear of the horrible thing that happened to your son with the dog. If it had happened here in Australia the dog would no longer exist. Good luck with the surgeries, and I hope the "deeper scars" heal too with time and trust in better animals :angel1:
April 27, 200619 yr that is a good name . l like the last picture with your daughter she is a sweety, looks like those two are going to be best buddies
April 27, 200619 yr Aww Hello Merlin. beautiful birdy.. and a pretty and cute 'other mama' you have there. so sorry to hear about the dog bite. I hope time will heal all his wounds including the ones you can't see. edit... Oh forgot to mention that I can't believe how much he looks like Goofy!! Apart from the size and the big white spot on his head, my goodness, even the flash does the same thing to Goofy's colouring!!! Amazing.. hehe. Edited April 27, 200619 yr by Cheeta
April 27, 200619 yr Love the name Lovey. I think it is perfect for him. He really is magnificant. Can't wait to see more of him.
April 27, 200619 yr Author thanks everyone...yes he does look like Goofy - I am amazed what flash does too, it didn't do it to Pretty because he is white.
April 27, 200619 yr He looks so grumpy in the second picture , should have named him Grumpy. What kind of camera do you have? That 3rd picture is awesome...please foward me a copy. I just love it. By The Way: I seen somewhere that you were thinking of changing pretty's name. I vote yes, it's a very pretty name but he's a boy.
April 27, 200619 yr Author Pudgie always came to mind so that is his nickname and he does have the grumpy look doesn't he or dopey :(Laughing out loud): I will send you the picture, and Pretty yes I really wanted to change it but now he actually fits it. I may later.
