After a bit of research I have changed my mind about this one... apparently cinnamons are born with red eyes that darken with age.

I've had baby cinnamons though and they've never had red eyes....ever. :wub:

well they are not bight red more the plum colour you get with recessives and it fades.

 

I think that give Patches 80%

I always assumed that a budgie stretched its leg backwards when sleepy because I notice it more in my lot around dusk, so there ya go!

And I always assumed that tail feathers and flight feathers were much the same colour!

 

There ya go, a lesson to me...dont assume anything (as the saying goes - it makes an *** out of u and me!)

:(Laughing out loud): Well I for one think it's not all ways the case, it is an action they do natually and mine will to it a lot in the mornings and at night. But not often during the day. So I think yes it can be a sign of nerves at it also has to match the setting.

I also thought it was sleepy or bored as we do it as well/ Mine also lift their wings up after the leg.

yeah cheeky used to do that too - i always just thought he was having a good stretch because he definately wasn't nervous!
