Posted April 18, 200619 yr Doing my Cyclone clean up and just getting everything in place in preparation, I'm going to bring all the aviary Budgies inside but I have a nesting box out there with 4 bubs in it. I was wondering if instead of transferring the aviary nesting box which is bolted and awkward to remove, if i could use a new one thats identical to put the babies in into the cage I'm bringing inside, will the mum reject them? she is a great mum and doesn't mind me handling them etc but I'm not sure if she would go into another nesting box.. Sorry if this doesn't make sense as I'm kinda in a rush (Laughing out loud)... Do you think it would work transferring them and also because they will be in a smaller cage would i maybe experience aggresion to the babies from the other budgies? separate the mum bub and babies even maybe? Cheers  Una By The Way does anyone have an extra pair of hands i could borrow
April 18, 200619 yr You can transfer bubs to a new breeding box without mum rejecting them - I have done it on many occassions when the old box needs discarding. The trick is to transfer as much of the contents (poop, feathers etc) as is possible so that it smells like the old box. Do not place them with other budgies! They would experience trouble & poor mum would be over stressed already without trying to defend the babies.
April 19, 200619 yr Good luck with the "operation".......OHHHH I'm so glad I don't have to deal with those kind of Natural wonders anymore! Must admit I found it all quite exciting at the same time as being terrified! The north west is beautiful so I'm guessing the north east is as well....I suppose that makes it worth it! Hope you are all okay!
