Posted April 17, 200619 yr Exposure to droppings should be minimized. A grate at the bottom of the cage should be used. Spraying the grate with non-stick cooking spray (PAM) will allow droppings to slide off the grate and into the bottom of the cage. Does any one here spray the cage grate with non-stick spray? I was wondering if it was a safe thing to do.. or a good idea?
April 17, 200619 yr I don't see how it would last long even if it is safe. Seems like a lot of hassle when all it takes is a quick swipe with a tissue. Budgie poop is so easy to clean off grates and most of it falls through anyway. But as far as safety, I don't know. I just don't think it's practical either way. But that's just me!
April 17, 200619 yr can you imagine the sticky and greasy little feet you'll have if you did that?!?! most of my budgies love to crawl around the bottom on the grate, so I dont' think I'll be playing with them anytime soon if I spray that on.. but that's just me... safe or not safe...

April 17, 200619 yr I wouldn't think that it would be very safe. I remember hearing that a baby died when its mom sprayed a non stick spray while it was in the room. That might have been just a rumour but I don't like aerosol cans. I just use a soft plastic pot scrubber and any stuck poop (there isn't much) just pops off my grates.
